I want to get the cheapest travel to many places around Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. I'm willing to work while aboard or for a short time in port to pay for my trip. How hard is it to get work on these ships or in ports?? Do i need to do anything special?? Whats the best way to go about talking to captains or crew chiefs?? I also know how to sail so working a sail boat is an option too.

Choices are somewhere in Bay of Plenty around Taurana to be near in-laws, though employment-wise probably Auckland would be better - heard Titrangi was nice. Have kids aged 3 and 5 and good (or the best schools) are a must (state schools please - too poor for private) Many thanks

Planning a trip and figuring out how many miles I'll get. I don't think it would matter the airline, but I'll say United.
