Okay...Australia is about 70 percent and is the driest continent on earth, apart from Antartica....
At present, desert covers a large part of Australia, The Great Sandy Desert, The Gibson Desert and the Great Victoria Desert combine to fill more than half of Western Australia. To the east lies Tanami Desert, The Simpson Desert, and The Sturt's Stony Desert.
So yes, there are LOTS of deserts in Australia!

Hi Heather
There are many deserts in Australia.
Even in some of the greenest states like Victoria there are small deserts towards the centre of the country.
Some of the other answerers said the country is almost all desert. This is not true. There are moutain ranges, rain forests, and various other types of terrain all around Australia, particularly in towards the coastal areas.
I hope this helps

Several. They are hot and dry... Australia is 70% arid. Alice Springs has the only zoo/wildlife park dedicated to the desert environment and is the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere.
They are fascinating places full of life.

Australia is a stand alone island-continent. Australasia sometimes known as Oceania, is another thing entirely. Australia’s mainland is the largest island and the smallest continent. It lies between 10° and 39° South latitude. The highest is Mount Kosciuszko, and it is 2228 meters. Australia is the second driest continent, Antarctica being the first driest continent. Its interior has one of the lowest rainfalls in the world. Australasia is a term variably used to describe a region of Oceania – namely Australia, New Zealand, and neighbouring islands in the Pacific Ocean.
