I already have Kamakura penciled in, plus a trip to Mt Fuji...both on organized tours

But what Im looking for is somewhere within easy reach of Tokyo, where I can visit myself, without having to change trains, or take addtional buses...somewhere interesting, that I can spend the day walking round and yet be back in Tokyo by evening.

Anywhere you can recommend?

In the summer of 2007 (after school), I will travel to Okayama, then to Gose(Nara-prefecture)...then Kanzawa, Ishikawa. What advise can you give me about everything.

Sure, i have been to Japan before, but i wasn't alone.

I want to know how the bullet train/train/transportation systems work, how the airports work and everything there is i need to know.

PS: I will go for rouughtly 3-4 months or more...and I will on my own at 17 years old...please, any advise would be helpful.

Also I need to be in Okayama first...how do I go from Okayama to Nara to kanazawa...and maybe tokyo after...

Thank you*

On my forthcoming holiday in Tokyo, in addition to seeing the sites, Im desperate to really interact with the locals...but as a rather shy Gaijin, Im unsure of the best places to do so...

I speak a little, faltering Japanese, and Im eager to put it to use, but worried that my few words of Japanese will provoke more laughter than praise!

Where are the friendliest places one can interact with the people of Tokyo?

I was told by a friend today that I must visit a Mr. Doughnuts while in Tokyo. I assume that they are all over the city. Where might I find some that are close to the Yamanote Line stations?

BTW, is it:

Mr or Mister

and

Doughnuts or Donuts?

I'm going to Japan and I wanted to buy a Japanese cell phone. I was wondering if I will be able to use the cell phone in the US. I know that US companies will not be able to support all the Japanese cell phone features.

I am moving to Japan, and I want to export my 2006 Honda Odessey there. I heard changes need to be made to the car in order to meet Japan's standards. Does anyone know what kind of standards need to be met? And is Japan an "unleaded" fuel country? For some reason, everything I have read so far says cars after 1976 from the USA need changed done to them. Does anyone have a website or information about exporting cars to Japan. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I will be visiting Japan soon. What are some things that I should buy while I am there that you can't easily get in the US? I'm especially interested in electronics and food but would be open to any suggestions.
