OK first of all if the Japanese ate babies like they ate french fries then I'd think the UN would do something about it. Don'tcha think?
Or how about the US government? They'd have a field day if they found out Japanese ate babies. Another reason to roll in the troops and shoot people and drop bombs and sing God Bless America while picking up the dead bodies.
(Hopefully everyone from the US will know I'm being sarcastic here. Just because we read everywhere that the US war on terror is wrong doesn't make it fu**ing so right? I'm Japanese American btw)

I mean hello? I'd think cannibalism would be up there in the "Do not tolerate" list together with genocide. But you see this is MY opinion, what do YOU think?

I am apalled at the lack of education, knowledge and common sense in these forums sometimes!
No! Japanese do not eat babies. NO! Japanese do not eat puppies. NO! Not every Japanese practice karate. AND NO!!! Not every Japanese eat whale!!!!

OK, sorry I had to let that out.
Just want to say if you have time looking at these psycho websites about foreign countries maybe it's better to be reading and looking at websites that explain the culture and customs and food preference of said country as a fact. Like Wikipedia or better yet, an Encyclopedia.

Just a thought. Because if I saw a website that told me everyone in the southern states of the US were racist and mated with their kin, then I'd probably look for other facts from other reliable resources. Not just believe in the first website I saw just because it had vivid pictures....

And to the other posters that claim this is true namely the below 4 ppl.... CORRECTION 3 PPL!!! (sorry o2bamy25, I misunderstood your answer thanks for messaging me with your explanation.)

You guys are the people who bring hate into this world.
And THIS I know for a fact. Read a book sometimes and you'll learn new things other than fighting and hating.

I am Japanese who grown up in Japan and for the past few decades I live in the US. But I have never heard of Japanese eat baby. When I was in Japan up till age of 21, I never saw a store where I could buy baby meat. It is sad that people spread this kind of incorrect information without validating the accuracy on their own.

I did search in Japanese to see where I could buy baby meat, but I didn't get result in return (see the search result below). Annually, there are about 10M foreign visitors visit Japan. What is a chance that none of them have ever seen it?
If this were true, how come none of the human rights organizations would have made a fuss about this?

If this were true, how come media wouldn't have covered this? They could make a big front line news worldwide.

The answer to your question is a No. The Japanese are a very cultured people, who still suffer from slurs and misinformation about their nation because of the events of WW2. The Chinese people suffered much from famine in the past, and at those times have had to look to eating anything they could to survive, so that's why they eat things like snakes. What would you think of doing if you were starving? You would eat grasshoppers and snakes etc., to stop yourself from dying. They are not primitive people at all. Perhaps you would like to research these nations on the internet and share some of what you find with your father.

eating babies is the standard insult of a country, a society or race to say they are uncivilized. And it has, is, and always will be bull sh*t.

If you go by this website, you might as well think all americans or for that matter all western people keep body parts in their fridge for snacks.

what's interesting to note is the thumbs up/down rankings on the answers here. Predictably those who say know have thumbs ups and yet they also have several thumbs downs. Seem like some anti-japanese sentiment. I've notice this trend on several japanese questions. People who give often right answers, some wanker hits the thumbs down option.

As you asked a CIVILISED question, I'll give you a CIVILISED answer!

NO, NO, NO, NO!!! Did you get that? The answer's NO!!!!!!

Not only are those pictures faked up, as part of an art-exhibition-type thingy, but the man - as I recall - is Chinese, not Japanese! And NO, Chinese people don't eat babies either!! Nor do Muslims..!

This is just an unfounded accusation that is traditionally used by people of every nation to sully the reputation of ANY country they don't like! Someone decided they hate Japan and the Japanese enough to make these filthy false accusations - anonymously of course - and people who are too thick to know any better spread the word with "Those disgusting Japanese eat babies, I saw it on the Internet so it MUST be true!" Ha!! How naive can you get!

Even the name of your web-site says it all - do you REALLY believe that they call themselves 'rotten' because they expose rotten behaviour? Or do you suspect that they are called 'rotten' because they ARE rotten?!!!? I personally believe that THEY are the rotten ones - because they're spreading racist slander and libel without actually pointing out the obvious fact that it's all a hoax!! Heck, they probably tell you about the fictional 'bonsai cats' without telling you it's a wind-up...!!

hmm think for a second
I have seen this picture myself

firstly it claims to be a chinese person, not a japanese

secondly you are looking at a rotten website showing disgusting and horrible things.

I don't know if the picture is true but let me ask you a question:
Which is worse, a man who eats a baby or a man who sells tickets to a man eating a baby?

I've seen that picture. It's fake. The japanese might do a lot of weird stuff, but no culture would eat babies.

That photo "was taken seriously by a number of important agencies who viewed it, and both Scotland Yard and the FBI investigated this matter, trying to determine when and where the picture was taken and the identities of those appearing in it. Its origin was quickly uncovered: The man in the photo is Chinese artist Zhu Yu, who performed a conceptual piece called "Eating People" at a Shanghai arts festival in 2000. The controversial photo has since been part of a number of art exhibits. As for the "baby," it was most likely constructed by placing a doll's head on a duck's carcass."

Even if something looks real, you can't always believe what you see on the internet. Ppl are more likely to believe rumours like this about other cultures/countries, but in actual fact cannibalism is viewed no different in China or Japan than it is here. Eastern and Western attitudes may differ greatly on certain subjects but this is not one of them. These urban legends are scary, b/c before WWII the Nazis tried to convince the world that Jewish ppl sacrificed babies. This kind of thinking can lead to disasterous results. In regards to cannibalism, there is not a corner of the world it hasn't touched. For some reason, it's not uncommon for Caucasians or North Americans to point the finger at other cultures for their past cannabilistic ways, but ignore their own histories. I have a Scottish heritiage, and it was not uncommon for ppl to drink a cup of human blood from a dying or dead person as a way of preserving the person's spirit. No one ever talks about Caucasian cannibalism though. It's mainly due to the past attempts to dehumanize other races and make them appear as "savages". If they were viewed as savages then it would be okay to kill them, take their land, enslave them etc. But in actual fact the perpetrators were the savages.

Probably you can't distinguish Japanese and Chinese letters.
The pics in the rotten.com is shot in China.
In Japan, there is no such custom.
Go China room and ask.
