Japan is definately more expensive, but there are ways to minimize your spending a lot, if you live like a Japanese person, your monthly bills will be a lot lower than if you try to live like an American over there. If you eat at fast food places all the time, the prices will quickly kill your wallet, if however your diet consists of a lot of rice, fish, and pickled vegetables, and other traditional foods, your monthly bills will be much lower.

Unlike America, a car is not a necessity, but a luxury, the public transportation is very reasonable, and will get you basically anywhere. For short neighborhood trips, you walk or ride a bike. Each neighborhood on average is like a mini city with almost everything you would need right close to hand. You also only buy at most food for a few days, rather than a week or two weeks worth of groceries, in part because your fridge is much smaller.

Also, do not ever expect to realistically own a house, or live in a very large apartment unless you are making a lot of money. If you can deal with a small apartment, you will save a lot of money each month in rent, as well as if you have that small apartment away from the heart of the city, again, you pay thru the nose for a shorter commute time. I've found places online that offer small apartments as low as 50000 yen a month, be aware that it will be very tiny, but then, that converts out to less than 500 bucks a month for rent.

In all, you can live in either place Mass. or Japan, and depending on where you go, suburbs or the heart of the city, it can be expenisve or cheap. If you focus on living frugally, you can live cheaply, even in Tokyo

Japan by FAR. The electricity is insanely expensive. Just to have appliances plugged in runs electricity. When I lived there, everything was expensive. A pair of Levi jeans that you can find at JC Penney for $20, costs them $130. The food, drinks, etc. A meal at McDonalds was $6.00 (converted) and you only got a cheeseburger and a small drink (no refills) You wouldn't believe the cost of fuel either. So japan by far.

I stay in Virginia, the place we surpassed between the main virulently anti-gay 'marriage amendments' interior the rustic. yet I actual have on no account had a concern. I lived for years in Richmond, interior the city, and lived a especially lots thoroughly gay way of life outdoors of paintings - gay friends, patronized gay agencies, had a factor-time job in a gay bar, rainbow flag in front of the abode - for years without issues. I now stay in Charlottesville, a smaller city the place the college of Virginia is placed. Our city council has recently taken up a decision to inspire the final assembly to characteristic sexual orientation and gender identity to the civil rights regulations. that could on no account have got here approximately in Richmond. The college has a non-discrimination coverage so a techniques as Virginia regulation will enable. The suburbs of the two places are yet another tale. The suburbs of Richmond the place I grew up are staunchly suitable-wing Republican, represented by making use of Eric Cantor, the twittering twit of the unconventional suitable. The suburbs of Charlottesville are purely as undesirable politically. yet however, persons are lots extra familiar with being around and coping with gay people who that is purely no longer that lots of an argument anymore, a minimum of around here.
