I have sold my property in Dubai.

I was told my the estate agents that they will pay me my money by "cash cheque" with my name on it. This means i can go to any bank in Dubai and that cheque will guarantee that the bank will then pay me the cash equivalent in Dirhams.

As im a UK resident i dont have any bank accounts in Dubai.

Is a "cash cheque" a widely accepted form of payment? Please help as i need to know where i stand.

I know that it's an Islamic country so women dress modestly, but I'm a little confused about what to wear when I go swimming in the hotel as well as at the beach. Is a normal swim suit ok or do I need to wear something over it? Someone said I should wear a baggy T shirt on top! How can I swim with that on?! Answers from people who live in Dubai or those that have been there would be appreciated

I noticed that there are some words which are different between my dialect "the Egyptian dialect " and the Emirati dialect . Like for example here , you guys call stationery as "kortasya" . We call it " adawat maktabya" . The word "Kortasya" has absloutely no meaning in the Egyptian dialect except for "cones" .
I know also you call bread " sammon" . We call it " 3esh" .
What else ?

Many expats live in Dubai for years. What is their Dubai status? Do they become naturalized citizens after a certain time? Their children that are born in the UAE become citizens by birthright? I'm American, so I'm familiar with birthright, naturalization, green cars and work visa. How does all this work in Dubai?

I'll go to the Emirates next summer incha'alla and I'll spend two weeks over there. I know how much a ticket would cost, and I found a pretty affordable hotel (like 200 dirhams a day) just a place to sleep, but it doesn't offer any breakfast , lunch or dinner. Also I do not plan on renting a car.

How much, on estimate, do you think I will spend on food every day+ taxi (cab, not going too far) + other miscellaneous expenses (I'm not going as a tourist to discover the intersting places, I'm just spending 2 weeks hanging out with my high school friends)

I resigned from my previous employer through email when I had my vacation from my home country.
My employer told me that they will put a ban on me.
How will I know if they really did put this ban under my name?

I am moving to Abu Dhabi shortly... assuming we (Wife and I) live in a two-bedroom apartment, what would be a good estimate for monthly living expenses like rent, utilities, gas, grocery, eating out etc.
My understanding is that rent would be in the region of AED 4,500 though I have no idea about gas, utilities etc.
Thank you in advance.

We have three kids and any info on living in Dubai will help with our decision. Also anyone who works for Emirates what is accommodation like do they have family options. The more information the better before we make the best or worst decision about uprooting
