I just read a piece that says no cars will be allowed within 2 kilometres of the soccer stadiums during the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Any creative ideas on how they'll get there? You can read the article here http://www.sagoodnews.co.za/countdown/974171.htm And what is this this "green transport they talk about?

cell number portability will be launched in South Africa. That means, if you are using, for instance, MTN, and you decide you want to move to another mobile network, eg Vodacom, it will be possible to move with your original cell-number. You are not going to change you cell-number, meaning you can move with an 083******* number to Vodacom network, and visa-versa. Don't you think its a good idea?

South African Minister of Health, Mantu Tshabalala, after groundbreaking research, has apparently found a cure for AIDS.

Dr.Tshabalala a.k.a. Dr. Beetroot, despite criticism from detractors like Zackie Achmat of the Treatment Action Campaign, has discovered that the same substance used to keep vampires away - garlic - is also a cure for AIDS.
If used in conjunction with lemons and beetroot - as well as general good nutrition - the medicinal effects are increased further, Dr. Tshabalala has found.

The use of garlic to ensure protection from vampires has long been an effective remedy for people living in certain Eastern European countries, but its medicinal benefits against the contraction of AIDS has not been known up until now.

Dr. Tshabalala attended the First Leningrad Medical Institute in the former Soviet Union between 1962 and 1969, which is possibly where her initial research into vampires began
However, her views on anti - retroviral antidotes were voted out in 2002

Does anyone know why all passenger trains make a stop in Wellington, South Africa. This is my hometown and I know why, but most "Wellingdonners" don't have the foggiest. Do you know? And if so, what other interesting facts or famous people can you name from this picturesque place? We even have royalty from there. Can you name her?

Just reading the BBC news page.(check this link)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/2/hi/africa/5333910.stm >

and it said that India has the highest number of AIDS sufferers in the world, not SA. Upon further research I found many sites giving the following figures SA 5.5 million, India 5.7 million.
I mean this is hardly good news, but it's something to point out to the racist bigots who come online moaning about the black goverment doing nothing, and blaming AIDS on them. You'll also see in the link our Minister of health, who incourages garlic for Aids, is being sidelined.(Yipee) Hopefully they'll get an expert on it now, and we can start to slow down the spread of this gastly disease, and the stigmas and taboo's that go with it.

I think after the recent criticism that the Boks received, they deserve a round of applause for finishing the Tri-Nations campaign on a high note....although there is still much to be done before the World Cup next year.

Can anybody give me some information on Cape Town in South Africa. I'm interested to know the safety factor. We know every city has its problems. Most people I talk to say its a great city but a few have been quite off-putting.

And before people start automatically blaming apartheid - folks that ended 12 years ago. Actually, it was pretty much done by the late eighties.
At which point does the present government take responsibility for its actions and realise that the buck stops with them?
But then again, it's always someone else's fault.

It's amusing, but also saddening to read the questions on this forum 'Is it safe to go to Sandton?', or 'Is it safe to take a bus to the airport?' Fifteen years ago that woud never have been an issue - for white and black alike.
Those questions have to be asked, however, because the so-called police force in South Africa is just as corrupt and inept as the present government.

I remember asking naive white people in South Africa many years ago why they thought that South Africa would be different from the rest of Africa when black majority rule came.
They just 'knew' it would be.
I wonder how many of them have been robbed, and how many times.

This question is aimed at non-South African residents. I am conducting research to ascertain the factors that would deter a tourist from visiting South Africa. Considering the Soccer World Cup is going to be hosted in South Africa next, I am interested to know what the rest of THE WORLD knows about South Africa. Please don't be shy...
