No-one talks about Brits emigrating to Oz as having to "justify" why they left - or Poles moving to the UK or Zimbabweans and other Africans flooding into SA. I really don't feel that SA ex-pats ever do try and justify their decisions because there simply is no need. And yet, perhaps more than any other nation currently, they have a great reason to leave and establish a secure life elsewhere. This "ex-pats trying to justify themselves" is simply a construct of South Africans still sitting over there doing their best to make sense of it all.
What do you think?

We even had the guts to have it investigated and culprits bought to book.Check out http://www.citizen.co.za/index/Article.aspx?pDesc=1,1,22&Type=top&File=061214213203.uhu6qgne.xml and then tell me that we are the most corrupt crime ridden country. UK stops the investigations so as not to damage foreign relations. CRAP. It is about money and as i have said in previous posting the US and UK have the same corruption we have only they sweep it under the carpet. ALF GARNETT your take on this please. What do the brits say about it. Im not there so I dont know the feeling on the street as it were?

How did he do it when I myself can't even forgive a simple mistake? And how does one forgive when something hurts so bad, you can't even talk about it? Me and my wife have been struggling with this issue for over 3 years and can't seem to forgive a certain family member. What do we need to do to be like Mandela?

I may have too much baggage when I return to South Africa on the 30th of December. I have a family of four and we can each take a maximum of 20 kilo's. We have 2 big suitcases and 2 smaller ones. Then we have a heavy box and one light box. I'm not sure how much we may have over the prescribed weight. Can you offer any ideas on how to cut the weight? The heavy box is filled with presents. The other heavy suitcase is filled with old clothes I wanna give to the poor in South Africa. A real dilemma!

Plus, I need to know where i can get cheap accomodation, food, entertainment, shopping, and things to do that aren't just for tourists either...
And when i say cheap i mean really CHEAP, i intend to travel on a tight budget..
also, will i be able to get by on just english or will i need to learn some Afrikaans, i can speak basic dutch, but its not the same is it...

The locals have long known it, and now UK visitors agree: South Africa is the most beautiful country on earth. In the 2006 Reader's Travel Awards by UK magazine Condé Nast Traveller, South Africa's scenery scored 97.8% - the highest in the world - with the country being voted the world's fifth-best tourist destination.

Now in their ninth year, the awards come out of a comprehensive survey of readers' favourite hotels, spas, cities, countries and more, based on a range of criteria that are then compiled into a score out of 100. In the country category, South Africa's overall score was 94.2% - putting it ahead of other destinations such as Thailand, France, the US, Greece and Malaysia.

This is the sixth year in a row that South Africa has been ranked as one of the world's top 20 destinations...

South Africans living overseas... How beautiful is SA compared to other countries? We live in paradise, don't we? :D

I just realized that there is this neat little place down in Southern Africa. It seems pretty orderly - does anyone know more about it? Especially in terms of "would someone from Europe or North America like living there?"
