When I thought about SA in the past, I used to think "home".

When I think about SA now, I think "crime" and how I wish I still felt the way I used to about the place.

Im South African, from Cape Town, the best place in South Africa. Theres lots of violence and bs there but since Ive been travelling abroad meeting lots of foreigners, Ive heard its not much better in most countries especially USA. And please for all those not so intellegent people SA is not just wildlife. Most cities you can only see wild animals in zoo's like in most countries. We have everything just like all popular countries. If you want to see a third world country come to China, thats where I am currently working.

When I think of SA I want to cry because I have to wait another two months before I can go back there. I really miss my home.

South Africa is my home. People rat on that there is lots of crime and all that, yes there is and believe it or not it happens everywhere! I would hate to live in a country where famous people walk around like they are better than me, where there are natural disasters like a tornado, hurricane, volcano's, earth quake's and Kelly Osborne. He he he.......... People are blowing themselves up to proove a point. Whats the point of doing that if youre not alive to see how well your point was read. Yes we have corruption, but so do other places, we dont have our president that people have so many doubts about how the whole 9/11 happened! Most people think it was all bush's doing. We are not at war with anyone. Get my point?
It's a loving peaceful place with a beautiful scenery.
I was born here and still plan to marry here and have kids here.

The bad stuff first: I think of a corrupt government, apartheid turned into hatred towards the white, some whites still hating the blacks, touchy blacks that feeds on apartheid and racism, and discrimination towards black, white, colored, female and male....

The good stuff: a country full of sunshine, a nation that's growing, biltong, chutney and bobotie! A holiday that can range from a nice Safari, a getaway to the sea, a visit to cultural village. A nation with lots of cultures, a country with a dessert like area, a magical Mediterranean place like Knysna or Mpumalanga!

South Africa is a country that offers you art, culture, history, fun, facts and lots of adventurous things to do!

I LOVE SOUTH AFRICA

I work with a woman from South Africa. Most of her family immigrated to Canada. I recently met her brother, who still lives over there. Very nice guy.

When I think of Africa, I think of wild game reserves.....giraffes and elephants and lions.

I don't really like the first answers to your question but who am I to comment on these answers ...

Anyway, I've been to SA a few times for holidays and I know some people in Western Cape.

To me, SA is a very beautiful country and I always like to get back there. I've been in several African countries and SA is maybe the only one with a future. Although SA has to face serious problems, I have the impression it's the only Afrcan coutry which is dealing with its problems in an intelligent way. SA will have some difficult moments, of that I'm sure, but I hope it stays realistic in its approach.

Call me naive, but I really hope/think black and white will find a way to leave the past behind and to create a future for all SA people without to much violence.

I know that people on holidays tend to see only the bright side of things, but to me SA is just to beautifull and the people in SA are just to positive ... I don't think I can be wrong

A whole lifetime of memories. I grew up there and so did 14 generations of my ancestors - since the first of the Louw's landed here in the mid 1600's.
Currently it's still a great country, but with a weak government who cannot control the crime and who are alienating many economically active citizens on racial grounds.
