we dont have a defence forch...................the defence force is having a bit of a problem at the moment

It's actualy the defence farce.
I think the army has one operational brigade - but when six troops die in a river crossing exercise in Burundi the army probably wouldn't survive crossing a busy street.
The navy recently took delivery of it's new submarine but the German shipbuilders had to deliver the submarine because the South African sailors weren't competent to sail the thing to SA from Germany.
The airforce is going hell for leather into affirmative action and recently a guy who had failed his pre-flight tests fatally pranged a Mirage near Hoodspruit. I live near the Pretoria airforce bases and I am terrified that Grippons will start dropping out of the sky because they are piloted by people selected on skin colour and not ability.

The good news is that SA has more generals than the US. Never have so few been led by so many.
The basic training must be OK because all the cash van heist guys join the army to learn how to use weapons before resigning and starting to ambush cash vans.
The weapons must also be OK because the weapons stolen from the armoury in Valhalla have worked well in the cash van heists and armed robberies. In newspaper articles AK47 is a code for the R4s and R5s that were stolen from the army.
Security is not so good - last month thieves cut their way through the security fence round the airforce gymnasium and stole two cars. The fence has still not been repaired. Two months ago a tanker of diesel was hijacked from Waterkloof Air Force base. The only operation helicopter hangar in Pretoria is a grenade throw away from the road and the floodlights are all out and the guard posts are unmanned.
The soldiers on peace keeping missions in Africa are keeping themselves gainfully occupied: just over 800 soldiers in Burundi and over a 1000 pending court martials.
It's also good to know that the army is involved in really useful things like world Aids Day. On Aids day the airforce and tech bases closed down for an Aids Day parade. So all the scheduled maintenance was not done.

The Duke of Wellington said of his troops "Thay may not frighten the enemy but by God they frighten me." I have the same feeling about our SANDF.

The SA defence force use to be a world class team. They were well-trained, disciplined and adept. The Recces were also regarded as one of the most feared and respected units in the world.
Now the defence force is pathetic.
As marrs attack said, so many qualified people left, after being informed that there services were not required, that SA is struggling to find people that know how to handle the equipment. What an absolute joke.

Went from a internationally feared unit with some of the best trained soldiers in the world to a complete fart in the wind. Let's just hope nobody decides to attack us.

I think the good thing about the SANDF is that they will not be able to stage a COUP. They are too useless ! Seems all they do is have sex whilst on peace -keeping missions in Africa.
