Cape Town is know by South Africans to be only city or area with floods and extreme cold in winter.
Things are really changes drastically. This year Cape Town did not rain so much but the Eastern Cape had floods and extreme cold.
I guess it's global warming catching up...
The garden route is most beautiful in Summer (November-January)

It's winter - can be quite cold. Although never as cold as the UK!
You'll have to take your chances. We went via the garden route last Easter and it poured all the way - on the two days we travelled, I believe. The rest of the year saw a drought!

Bit risky at that time of the year. Its winter and that means rain in the Cape.
Last winter the rains were so strong they washed away parts of the N2 freeway near George and Wilderness.
So maybe not the best time to go but it will still be beautiful.
Enjoy
