Yes, it's a scam.
But why do you post this in the South Africa section? Benin is in North West Africa, about as far away from SA as Argentina is from the USA!

It's a scam and it originated in Nigeria not from Benin as they would not openly admit that they are Nigerians, it's called the 419 money scam, and believe me it's not a woman either it's guys poseing as woman and they usually find a picture of a very nice looking African girl to tempt you into giving them the info they need to clean out your bank account, i have refered all such mails to Inter- Pol.

That's easy. Your very first clue if is she/he is asking you for money.
That's a scam.
If you want to obtain money, you live in a society of free enterprise and it's available to you everywhere. There is no lazy way to obtain money, but you can do it if you get a library card and read books on how to create money.
If you want to give money, you do it through a charity that has the proper paperwork and proper channels to claim it as a tax write off.
Other then that, don't feel like you are losing money you've never had from a stranger or feel guilty that you are not able to give to someone in need who claims they are destitute.

OK, first, you have to give more information. Secondly, why do you ask, is it because of the fact that she is from Africa?
All I can say is whatever you do, do not give out your banking details or you ID. Just to be safe, keep your personal information to yourself, IE telephone number, address ext.
Good luck!

If you think its a scam, it probably is. Logically, who would just give large amounts of money to a perfect stranger?

Why are you working with someone who might be scamming you? If you have doubts, you are probably right...go with your instincts... I don't do business with people I don't know in other countries...

Usually, scammers dont use correct grammar, and have fishy names and details. If she is from Africa and you dont even know her, dont even do anything. Just forget about it :)
