Yes, lets try:

1. BOKS is accepted Afrikaans. ONLY the pretentious use doos/kartondoos
2. Would love to see the word for PODCAST. There will be one, there is a committee that 'creates' new techncal jargon as it appears. Used to work with one of the guys on the committee.
3. Kafferwaatlemoenkonfytbotteldeksel is one word, and possibly the longest. It refer to the cap of the jam made of a specific african melon.
4. Bliksem is not really a swearword. It is a KRAGWOORD. Somwhere in the same area ad DONDER
5. I have no clue, but everyone seems to know AARDVARK

On nr 5: apart from the mentioned trek and aardvark, there are also wildebeest (old Afrikaans), springbok, koppie, fynbos, rooibos (the tea), duiker (the antelope), snoek (I think), dassie (limited international use; some also call it a hyrax), Boer, Afrikaner, Afrikaans.
Then there are those mainly used in Southern Africa (often by not only Afrikaans speakers), and for which there is no real translation, like: braai (not quite the same as a BBQ), droewors, biltong, boerewors, lekker, sommer, nogal.
I'll probably think of more. You got my mind going on this now.

I don't know the answers to any of your questions, but I do know that when Jim Reeves was alive back in the early 60's he recorded alot of music in Afrikaans because he was really popular in South Africa. And you did spell it correctly.

Sadly enough the one word that was widely used and really gave us a bad rap was Apartheid anyway thank goodness it's history now.
Bliksem is quite acceptable and not a swear word.
