I am an American Christian women. I am divorced from my Egyptian Moslem husband. He did not allow me to learn Arabic. It was obvious why. Prior to leaving Eygpt, he fooled me into saying some Arabic words into our tape recorder to see if it was working properly. He told me that when I go through the airport to be sure to repeat those words! I did not, and he kept the tape. When I returned to the USA, I searched for the Arabic words and what he had me say was something to the effect that I was against Sharia law! What could have happened to me in the airport had I repeated those words? And what could have happened to me if he had given that tape to someone?

I have never been to Egypt, can not speak the local language, know very little about the Egyptian local culture.
Is it ok for me to just buy a good travel guide book, buy a ticket, get a visa, and go?
or I better go with an organized tour since this is going to be my first trip to Egypt?

Thank in advance for your answers.

Both people are well-travelled, polite and very respectful and sensitive to other cultures. Neither would ever be mistaken for an "Ugly American" as many non-Americans refer to some of our more boorish brethren that travel abroad.

In addition to Marrakech, what about Casablanca, Fez & Tangiers?

I'm looking for pictures of UHL Jerusalem, especially of the campus and student activities (lectures, the libary, excursions etc). Where can I get these, or do you have photos to share with me (if you do, I'll give you 10 points!)

Where can I find additional information of UHL Jerusalem? I'd type in "University of the Holy Land" and get only some 157 hits and almost none that offer satisfying information.

Also, what are some fun things graduate international students in Israel do in their spare time?

PS: please don't answer "google" because if I had found anything worthy there I wouldn't have posted this question!

Have you ever received abusive treatment? Please give me sincere replies without hiding things and without exaggerating things.

Does the Michelin star exist in the UAE or is it just Europe and if so is there any at this restaurant.

Many thanks

I have the opportunity to visit Kenya (and possibly Cape Town and JBurg) in late March. I am wondering if this is a good time to go especially as it relates to (1) weather and (2) going on safari and seeing animals. Does anyone have experience with Africa at this time of year? Please let me know. Thanks!

What do you think of non-Islamic banks? i.e. normal banks? Do you think that the interest you get is usury (reba) and thus "haram" or do you think it's not? If not then what's your justification of it being "halal"?
By the way, I wanna add that I'm not with or against normal banks. I'm really very confused. Sometimes I'm like of course they're haram, other times I'm like they sure ar halal.
So what do you think and why??
