One US Dollar can get you 126 Naira... The beautiful thing is what economists call Purchasing Power Parity... One Dollar in the US would buy you less items than its equivealent (126 Naira) in Nigeria. In other words, if you were living in Nigeria and you were earning US Dollars (as an expatriate) you'd probably be enjoying twice the value for each dollar you posses....

One Dollar To Naira

Actually, it's slightly more than 125 now. It's gone up to 128.16 as of last Friday.

The answer is no. The naira is not worth more than the dollar but much, much less. I can exchange just one single dollar for 128.16 naira so a dollar is worth over a hundred nairas and a naira is worth less than a US penny (cent).

If you bought something for just one dollar, you could pay for it with 128.16 nairas. That is correct. But that makes the dollar more valuable compared to the naira , not less.

As of today 2 monkeys and a cocnut translate to 128.16 Naira for 1 us dollar.

Actually 1 us dollar gets you 128 naira and so the 1 us dollar is worth more in that country. I actually visted that country and the big city of Lagos...my american money got me into some very luxurious places for very cheap prices.

At the moment it is 50pence. This is a good reason to get over there. Many things are cheaper in the States now and given the fact the dollar is weak we can purchase even more with the mighty pound!! But around 40 years ago, there used to be four dollars to the pound, which is why 25p was often called a dollar!!

No that means that means dollar ismore powerful because you have to pay less number of dollars to get the same thing... but the exchange rate is not always an indicator of the strength of the currency or the economy... like chinese yuan or japanese yen might be low on this account but still the economies are stronger than most in the world.
