It's like anywhere else. It depends on where you want to eat. If you want to try real Arab food, which I suggest you do, it can be relatively inexpensive. It's like if you don't want to pay $80 per person for a meal in Japan, you eat where the Japanese eat (besides it's a lot more fun). When eating in other countries there are health precautions that you should always take, but Dubai is more modern than most western countries, so enjoy.

Well in the Hotels you can get a good meal with drinks for £30 per head. Beer and Wines are not that expensive but avoid the wine as that is for some reason. You can go to Hard Rock Cafe or Planet Hollywood and thats good value. It does really depend on what you want.

Food is as expensive as you like, they have many places where you can eat for a few dollars these are indian and pakistani however a lunch at TGI fridays may cost about 15 dollars for a medium priced meal on the menu, they have alot of buffet type places as well, when you get there a good magazine to get is Time Out is has most dining places with an average cost and rating for you.

Dubai is as expensive as you want it to be ...
an average person would go for an arabic resturant that actually serves both arabic and western .. which almost what all restaurants do.
If you were here i would give you a list of places to visit ... you would probably expect a decent arabic restaurant to have meals ranging from 7$ us dollars to 20$ without drinks, drinks are around 2$ to 8$ each of course ... ranging from a coke to a Fruit Cocktail ...
