Winter Sports

I just started skating lessons for the first time at 26 years old. I realize that the rentals skates are terrible, so what kind of skates would be good for me to get? I have some skating skills (e.g. forward and backward crossovers, mohawks). Any suggestions? Or suggestions for websites that could help me?

My idea is to use a 2 x 4 type framing and add a pool liner for the water. do you think that would work??? 3 1/2 inches of ice???? is that enough???

If im using a bigger snowboard, will i be getting better control on rails,jumps,and the overall terrain of the mountain?I used to use a smaller board, and found i had good control, but now i wanna use a bigger board so i can use it this season and next, any advice?

I used to not be able to do it. Sloppy riding and such. But with some practice it became pretty easy and a ton - O- fun... great with tunes, infact I snowboard stoned about 80% of the time. Alot of fun imho. as long as ur no punter.

Ok. Im 15 years old, and really love snowboarding. Ive only been doing it for a year, but Im already bouble black level in 8 total days on the slopes. I am really into school and play extremely competitive baseball. My question is that I dont know if I shud keep snowboarding, taking the risk and getting hurt (effectively ending my baseball career) or whether I shud keep doing it, and just go with what I have fun with. Im just undecided.
