first component you do is purchase the bottom layers at Walmart. They make an less than armor knock of for 10 greenbacks. Then go on your close by bike save and get both Louis Garneu or sugo lengthy biking tights with chamois. i'm particular you've a lengthy sleeve Jersey already??? Then grab a then biking jacket. performance motorcycles is an option, yet I hate sending human beings there because of the corporate structure they have. saying that you'll get good deals because they purchase a lot innovatory to inventory. less than one hundred will be puzzling because you should layer up. I stay in Georgia and reduce than 30 degree days are not interesting.

How cold? West coast cold or great white north cold?
I agree that down filled jackets and wool are the warmest.
Layers work really well too. I spent half my life in Quebec where winters are damn cold. Seven years in northern Alberta where temperatures reached -40 C, without the wind chill factor. Now I live on Vancouver Island BC and I only wear a fleece jacket or a rain jacket in winter. So you have the choice I guess. It depends how warm you want to be too. Have a good one. Cheers! =)

Try a layered jacket - a fleece liner, down insulation, a removal-able waterproof cover. It should be useful 3 seasons of the year - unless your summers are as cold as they are here in San Francisco, then you can use it all 4 seasons.
Land's End has coats that are like that.

I got my eye on a 3-in-1 jacket from Walmart. They look pretty good, but unsure how warm they are.

No matter what kind of jacket you get (I agree that down is the best), remember to dress in layers!
