Same as KT moo i went on a school ski trip in February half term and it's pretty cheap once you get there.
To be honest it's no cheaper to go to Europe, you might as well pay the extra £100 or so and be guaranteed decent snow.
I really recommend Killington, the Snow Shed has everything and it is absolutely beautiful

If you are in the North-East US, then I suggest Jay Peak if you are going for the skiing (as opposed to the night-life) or Tremblant in Quebec. Jay has great snow and fantastic glades. They have a gondola to get you up fast. I like it because I'm there for the snow. However, if you also want night-time atmosphere then Tremblant will likely fit the bill. It is a bit more expensive than Jay but a whole lot of fun. Have fun!
