how much will it cost me to go snowboarding in southern california if I have to rent everything?

Depending where you are, you'll have to get to the resort so that might cost you a bit. These are the prices at Bear Mountain:

Adult Ticket (22+) for the regular season -- Whole Day: $49 Half-Day: $39 Night: $30 Half-Night: $20
Adult Ticket (22+) during peak season on Weekends and Holidays -- Whole Day: $62 Half-Day: $50 Night: $39 Half-Night: $29

Young Adult (13-21) regular season -- Whole Day: $39 Half-Day: $29 Night: $26 Half-Night: $18
Young Adult (13-21) peak season weekends and holidays -- Whole Day: $51 Half-Day: $40 Night: $29 Half-Night: $19

*Holiday Dates: Dec. 16 – 31, 2006; Jan. 1-7, 2007; Jan. 13-15, 2007; Feb. 17-19, 2007

If you rent from somewhere else, not the mountain, it could be cheaper. Also, you'll have a greater selection of boards.

I don't know where you can rent clothes though...if you don't have anything I think you'll have to make due with what you have or borrow from someone else. You can get cheap gloves, goggles, and hats for under $10 each.
