I will be a freshman next year, and I really enjoy playing volleyball. I am going to try out for the team, and I am concerned about the uniform. I am overweight, and the short shorts and tight shirts are making me very uncomfortable. What sort of undergarment do I have to wear with the shorts? Can I ask the coach if I can wear Leggings or something under the shorts?
During practice, I've seen that people wear t-shirts, and that will be fine for me. But, during games, what shirts do we wear? Is there anything I could do to make myself less self-conscious, any sort of tweaking the uniform that could help me?
Please don't comment on anything like "lose weight" I do realize that is an issue, and I am working on losing weight as best as I can.
Please help me, and thank you so much in advance!

Last year our volleyball team took second place in the pac.We had so much fun and we were a great team. This year we have a new coach that really doesn't know anything about volleyball. She doesn't know how to run a practice, she doesn't know how to make people try hard and listen to her. She didn't cut anyone from the team even the people who despearatly needed to be cut. I am so frustrated and embaressed to be on the team. It really is a huge step backward and I don't know what to do. Some of my old teammates didn't even come out this year and now I wish I hadn't. What do I do?

My daughter's HS volleyball coach is requiring setters to set without the ball touching their thumbs. Is this a common technique? Is it widely used in other high schools, Junior Olympics, or college programs?

What are the advanatges of not using your thumb vs. using thumbs when setting?

i'm going to be in 11th grade and in both 9yh and 10th i haven't tried out becuase i didn't have a physical and they already started practices (in the summer and i had no idea till 2 yrs later). i've played in 8th grade i was pretty good (not to brag,k?) but i don't want to join cuz usually the ppl that join volleyball are stuck up blonde and irritating cuz they thinkthey know it all and play better than everyone in a gym class. i don't want to be a part of that stereotype cuz i don't thinki'm better than anyone i just love to play. -- ok , i was setter in 8th grade and i don't serve overhand. it's more like a serve but to the side (right side*) and it works great for me because i can get it to dive where i want it to (and get many points). can't seem to get the overhand.

should i join? i really don't know if i shud listen to myslf and not join cuz i don't like the ppl i'd have to be teamed up w/ or join cuz i really love the sport. ->some realistic answers plz?(sry im confusing)

Here is the situation: my team returns a serve, the ball crosses over the net but is clearly going out of bounds on the other side. To prevent the ball from going too far away, an opponent player runs out of bounds and catches it before it lands out of bounds. Is it a foul? That is, should my team get the point and ball back? I was told that you should never touch an out of bounds ball before it lands.

Please clarify the official rule. Thanks.

Why is it in volleyball after the setter makes the set a guy jumps up and fake spikes it and then the guy who actually spikes it hits it near the other side of the court?
