I play volleyball and I'm the JV setter but I want to be the Varsity setter. How can I get the coach to notice that I can set Varsity?

I would suggest offering the "total package"; meaning, not only the talent, but the attitude. Instead of opting to "showboat", (chasing the most personal points), work towards overall teamwork and team spirit. Be the one to include all team members and offer team support.

In the end, the real coach will appreciate this, and recognize the package that you bring to the team. Also, work on each skill involved to be a varsity setter, individually.

Set small goals for yourself to achieve the bigger goal and work towards overall greatness.

I think that because your a freshman and already playing at the JV level, you should be happy with that. You've already accomplished a lot by making the JV team. If you're on the varsity team, there's a great chance that you will be on the bench a lot...the coach will probably want to play the oldest, most experienced girls during the games. If I were you, I'd much rather play JV for at least one more year and get so much experience on the court.

Honestly, you can't. If you aren't the Varsity setter, then I'm assuming that there already is a Varsity setter. So you would be kicking that setter out of her spot for you to get it. You'll probably get more playing time on JV anyway. I really wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. Sorry.

Show that you can excel, but still be a team player. For instance, be cooperative, coach-able, talented, and a team leader...this may get some attention! Also, try not to just be a setter, possibly try being an all-around player and then the coach will see that you have talents and can play wherever necessary (this is a great quality to have, because he may put in in the game at any position...I know it's not setting, but you'll get playing time!)....good luck at tryouts!

Don't only show her you are a good setter show her you are a good team player. show her how well you work with everyone as a team because coaches are interested in strengthening the team so if you have a good attitude and good skills it's harder to turn down.
you can also try practicing your butt off to impress her.

but remember you are only a freshman and sometimes underclassman just have to wait their turn that varsity player has been at it longer and probably had to wait too
Good Luck!

Do some weightlifting to build your upper body strength, as well as doing some leg exercises to build your lower body strength, and jumping exercises to help with your overhead spikes. After that, you show them that you can be the best Varsity Volleyball setter in the world. Good Luck!!!!!

Buy a few lighter sneakers. that are apartments/spikes. The exercise alot extra. You can get right down to a quick time, you simply need to paintings for it. I began prime college as a freshman for pass nation and monitor. I used to be jogging horribly like 7:00 minute mile (didnt run over summer time). Then through the top of the season i ran a five:33 mile. This yea i run a four:30 mile. It takes time, you may also wish to appear into summer time monitor systems and indoor monitor. They are very a laugh and the support me alot. My train stated if i hold this velocity of my imporvement i might through my senior be jogging four:09 or curb...if i paintings tough sufficient. whatever can occur.

At the freshman level try doing a lot of dumps over the net. The other team won't be expecting it during scrimmages and games and neither will your coach so it should impress them. Also, hustle ALWAYS catches coach eyes. So stay on your toes and practice after practice for some brownie points.

i'm gonna be a freshman this year also and i am just learning how to set, i am tryin to show my coach that i can be on varsity by not pouting when i'm benched, trying as hard as i possibly can, not complaining, and practice over and over again.

you gotta support your team...do be snotty...if you mess up realize it and let them know that it was your fault...help your team, if they mess up jus encourage them to try again...the coaches prolly already recognize you but by showing them that you are a team player it will do a lot...
