Volleyball is a great sport to play and while I'll admit that in most recreational settings you do not have to be in shape, competitively volleyball gets your heart going and can help upkeep a healthy life style. There are many ways to play. First, there is doubles which is played with 2 people on either side of the net on either grass or sand. There is also indoor where there are 6 people on either side of the net. There are 3 main positions: hitter, setter, and defensive specialist. To break the hitter position down a little more, there is a middle hitter, an out side hitter and a right side hitter. As far as equipment goes, you will need a sports bra if you are a girl, shorts (you can wear either basketball shorts or spandex), and knee pads if you don't want to kill your knees. YES! volleyball all the way!! it's the only sport i miss from high school really. It's something that can be played by anyone. You can play on a team and play by rules... or you can play with friends and mess around. anyway is fun!! it's the greatest!! My favorite thing about playing volleyball in high school was the uniform. I love spandix and you get to wear them everyday and no cares. They make your butt look good and more guys come to your games when you play volleyball.
