Outdoor Recreation - August 2006

I live in a small in town in Southwest Georgia and I am always trying to find people around here who enjoy hiking, camping, backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking,etc. I thought an outdoor club would be a good idea. How should I go about it?

Is there a difference between tides and currents? if so what? Reason: when crabbing is it affected by tides,currents, time of day etc?

As for caliber, im leaning towards .223 or 308 because of the price of cheap ammunition for practice. I cant decide between a rifle such as the AR 15 223 or a model 700 or browning a bolt rifle. I figure I'll be doing more shooting closer towards 300 yards, so im inclined to choose the 223, but any suggestions for the gun? Also, any recommendations on a good scope. I am just getting into long range shooting and regulary shoot skeet, sporting clays, pistol, etc etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Because I obviously can't take them home from the beach, but I still want to count them, but they all look alike to me. Is there any way to tell them apart so that I can count them? Not counting, of course, picking them up so that they pinch me or anything.

I live in a canyon with rock walls and obviously can't shoot at them. I'm firing a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle,270 Winchester and a S&W 9MM. I need great stopping power. Anyone have some good ideas on what will do the job?

i am allergic to mosquitos and these insect vampires love to suck my blood. i heard that there is a little machine you can buy that would repel mosquitos. sort of like Off, but without the nasty spray and significantly more effective.

i hear bobbers go to a certain depth. i thought bobbers r supposed to float on top of the water to know that i have a bite for bluegill, what do they mean? how should i rig my rocket bobber. should i put it in between 2 split shots to let go of tension? can split shots be used as a bobber stop?
