I know that there are no on-field referees in Ultimate, so in part, a foul is whatever the players agree is a foul. But, say that I have the disk and am being closely guarded. Is it a foul on my or my opponent, if I
- Whack him in the face (or other body part) with my hand that is holding the disk and is making a throwing motion?
- Whack him in the face (or other body part) with my hand holding the disk, period.
- Whack him in the face with the disk while holding it?
- Throw the disk and hit him in the face?
- Hit my opponent in the face as part of the follow-through of throwing the disk?

In short, I am wondering how "close" is "too close" when playing defence.

I had not been that familiar with the sport and recently played it with some fairly athletic-type folk who hadn't played it much before. I felt that the only guy who had played a lot was a little too aggressive with his defence, such that I could have whacked him in the manners I described above. Should I have?

I have three children living at home. One is a very gifted gymnast who spends a lot of time training and at meets. This of course means that I spend a lot of time driving, and away from home/kids/husband. How have you handled this? I need creativity! Kids ages are 16, 8, 5. Gymnast is 8. Thanks!
Much Love!!

OK, why isn't gymnastics a category?

We are a skateboard association, who have been trying to raise money in Wis. Dells area. We are trying to build a outdoor skatepark for kids. There's nothing in the Dells for resident kids, unless they have $$$. We are tired of seeing kids getting tickets for skateboarding, when there's no place for them to go. We have done alot of fundraising; like bake sales, rummage sales, food sales, and we sell our own T-shirts. I would like to appeal, heartfully to any pro-skateboarder, to offer assistance. Does anyone know where I might contact the Tony Hawk foundation, or any other foundation who might help? We have gotten quite far, with alot of big donations from organizations in the area, but very little support from the town itself. Please no opinions on your dislike of the sport. Let's act like adults for a moment, and think of the kids, who have been out in the heat today, washing cars, because they want a safe place to skate.

okay i have tumbled for like all my life and when i got around age.. 12 i quit because i was doing a back handspring and i fell on my head and sprained my wrist and my mom didn't really want me to do it anymore. then i decided to start doing it again and i still have my back handpsring but i have this huge fear of throwing it and my instructor says i'm going through a stage that everyone does at some point. he says i just need to trust him, and that he will be there and won't let me fall, but i just can't. i know i have it, and i know he's there, but i just can't do it. i need suggestions on how i could maybe get over my fear. has anyone else been through this? btw i'm fifteen now, so it's been a while since i've tumbled.
