See the 2nd to last paragraph on the first page. It states the ref reviewed the video footage to red card Zidane!!

I know it was wrong, but that is not proper procedure for the refs-- there is no instant replay in World Cup Soccer. If they didnt see it on the field, they CANNOT review it on the screen to make a decision.

If they want to do that they need to make instant replay a policy of world cup soccer, which is it not a policy now.

stay with team a little longer to stick it to Italy while qualifying for Euro 2008? They're in the same group. To be explicitly clear this question is not serious as some of you have trouble recognizing humour, especially of the bad variety:)

So, we have won the FIFA rights to host the Soccer World Cup in four years time, and we are all preparing for the big event. But, I would like to know what you think about having the event in Africa (the continent)... and specifically in South Africa (the country)...

In an official statement, Zidane's agent said that Zidane did not comment on the words that were exchanged between him and Materazzi. The agent didn't even know what Materazzi said to Zidane. Unless Materazzi spoke to reporters, no one but Materazzi and Zidane know! Stop aking the stupid question!

If Zindane, Rooney et al weren't footballers would you let your children look up to them as role models? Do you really think it's just the passion for the game that makes them behave this way, or are the just mindless thugs getting paid a s**tload of money for not a lot of work?

If the violence seen on the pitch happened in your town centre on a Saturrday night, these guys would get arrested.

When your 11 year old head butts a opponent in the local under 12's cup final, are you going to congratulate him and give him the 'best player' award. Only if the event is organised by FIFA.
"Daddy, I just want to be like that French bloke"

You know that if some of these players hadn't made it in football they would be in prison.

Time to act! Get rid of the thugs!

Your thoughts please.

Obviously if the main ref had seen the headbut, there would not have been consulation. The main ref did not issue the red card until after consultation with the assistant referees. The stupid staduim replayed the head but, and I heard the assistant ref saw and then told the main ref, and then the card was issued.

Obviously Zidane messed up, but since instant replay is not part of World Cup soccer, it is totally messed up if the ref used instant replay to eject Zidane (not that Zidane didnt deserve it)...

I watch the replay again n again, found materazzi shouldn' have said anything so serious that he deserved a head-butt. look at his expression!! zidane did say something too. maybe they two did say bad things to each other. it wouldn't be all materazzi's fault. watch the replay! zidane was in front of materazzi n suddelny he turned back n was about to provoked materazzi but materazzi didn't look aware at all. maybe he didn't expect zidane would hurt him. if he did insult zidane so badly.. he would have been self-aware. Whatever..!! zidane, a so-called great player shouldn't have done such stupid things. he knocked out his own country. he should have controlled his temper better
