Congratulations to the AZZURI,the defence won the world cup really,they were not the greatest going forward and did just enough throughout the tournament.On the whole i'd rather ITALY won because at least they play with passion and heart and the food is much better than the french as well,i'll take pasta over frogs legs anyday.GATTUSO man of the match he totally took zidane out of the game,something tells me that a move to man utd is on the cards,he is a natural replacement for roy keane,come to think of it,it's gonna be free for all if juventus,milan and co. get relegated to the 3rd division,players will be going on the cheap,pick up a bargain from serie A,but thats another day because the judge has delayed his ruling so for now well done ITALY and enjoy being world champions

It was a good match for the most part. I wasn't at all surprised that it went to penalty kicks because both teams are strong defensively. Italy didn't seem to play as well as they did the rest of the tournament, but obviously they played well enough to win. It was interesting that none of the penalty kicks were saved -- the only one that didn't score was the one that hit the crossbar. Anyway, it was a decent match and Italy is a deserving champion. It's good news for them in light of the match-fixing scandal that Serie A is going through right now; the World Cup win comes at a good time.
And here in the United States, it is particularly good that Italy won; because the U.S. came as close to beating Italy as any other opponent, maybe people will give the U.S. team a little more credit and stop being quite as critical. They didn't play too well in their three matches, but they're better than people are giving them credit for.
Congrats to Italy on a well-earned World Cup victory!

Justified , and completely satisfied after all that sufferings in the last 16 years losing 3 WCs by PKs and a controvery loss to S Korea , and a 2000 Euro . This feels greater than having s e x , oops not so sure cause I haven't been with any Italian's girl :)

Buon giorno! Kind of boring overall... Both teams played very defensive. France had some good counter attacks and Italia had some nice set plays. I would have preferred a more wide open game with another goal or two or at the very least some more scoring opportunities. More action often means more excitement! The Materazzi-Zidane encounter was unfortunate. My father's family is from Briatico, Calabria, Italia and my mother's family is from Quercy, France. I am pleased with the Italia win but disappointed with the France loss...

I'm a half Italian guy. It was lousy, and France deserved the win up until that idiot Zidane lost control...I'm happy Italy won, but I'm sad because I felt that they were not the best team in the field of 64. On the plus side: their defense rocks!

I t was one of the boring world cup final i have seen . Sadly enough a player like zidane terminates his career in such a way is distressful to football itself. Hope I wont be bored if i see you

Regrettably not a very good match - penalty shoot-outs are so dull.
Would rather France had won actually although after that shocker by Zidane I think I went into neutral.

Uh, it sucked. Possibly worst Final ever. What kind of sport decides its championship by lottery? FIFA is just beyond stupid. Play until someone scores even if it takes hours. That's what we do in the NHL in the playoffs. No one thinks that's unfair.
