That's the stadium used for the world cup finals of course.

The seating seems to go all around exept for one section behind one of the goals.

It behooves me how the almighty FIFA would bestowed such an honor after such obvious disrespect for fair-play. This after FIFA so much touted how they would condone no-more such acts of violence.

I understand how good (not great) Zidane played, but he was already benched once during the tournament for consecutive yellows, and then this?

I wrote this on another answer, and that's how I decided to post this as a question. My point really has to do with how do you explain this to the little ones. My kid could have no idea what was said - and as far as I'm concerned he never will. But how do I explain to him why he saw what he saw, and then why was this man (who behaved so bad in his eyes) awarded such honor? I wish FIFA in their all-mighty wisdom could explain him that, because I sure do not know how.

England seeded for Euro 2008 draw
England are among the top tier of seven seeds for Euro 2008 qualifying. They have been put in a group including defending champions and top seed Greece as well as Netherlands, Portugal, Czech Republic, France and Sweden. ----Italy and Germany are in the second group along with Croatia, Turkey, Poland, Spain and Romania.
Scotland have been placed in the fourth tier of teams, Wales in the fifth and Northern Ireland in the sixth for the draw on the 27 January 2007.
The seedings for each country have been based on qualifying for Euro 2004 and next summer's World Cup in Germany.
If Greece were not the holders they would only just have made it into the second tier with Germany making the top seven. -
Hosts Switzerland and Austria qualify automatically for the 16-team tournament. --The remaining 50 teams will be split into six groups of seven and one of eight with the winners and runners-up qualifying for the tournament.

If the World Cup final was an example of racism in football and with all the video evidence, skills in lip reading, and statements from the two players concerned we will find out. What will football actually do about it?
If at its highest profile event racism played a crucial part, how can football not do something about it?

I think defenders are not being paid attention. As I think everyone believe that Paolo Maldini deserved this award too, but he was never given that, and also for Cannavaro in this World Cup!! Besides the thing Zidane did is another reason.
Comment.......?

'SAY NO TO RACISM' is the tagline for FIFA and it is shown and printed on the banner all over Germany. I am watching the final game live in the stadium and are stunned by all those tricks and cheats that the Italians are showing. They should have be in Hollywood and not in Germany. They show a dramatic movie over here. I am definitely not going for France nor Italy. I am all going for Germany but that match really is not what we normally see in a game. Even Brazil or Spain or Portugal are playing more 'Gentlemans' style than the Italians. Zidane is wrong by doing the headbutting but who would not to that to Materazzi? If someone would have provoked you on your family or racial status, I don't really think that anyone can hold back their anger.Since that Racism Issue is highly recommend in FIFA,they should think of stripping the titles from the Italians because Italians have broke the rules of FIFA first.Put Zidane case aside first,& concentrate on the price that the Italians should pay

Okay. I was watching TSN (a sports channel in Canada) and apparently this is what Materazzi might have said to Zidane:

"I hope that you and your family die a horrible death. Go f*ck yourself."

Of course this may not be true, seeing as how they had someone read Materazzi's lips. I'm not sure, but I think TSN said that this "lip reading" came from BBC.

No, I am not hating on Zidane nor Materazzi. I have just been reading a lot of questions and answers lately on the incident and I was wondering what you guys might think of what I have heard.

So yeah. Do you think this is really what Materazzi said? Have you heard anything else about what might have been said?

I'm a recent follower of "the beautiful game." I've followed the Barclay's EPL for a year, Champions League, and the World Cup 2006. I would like your input regarding what I think is a simple rule change that would make the game more exciting: Prohibit a player from passing the ball back to his goal keeper. This rule would prevent a situation where a defender, when pressured by an opposing player, makes a cowardish pass to the goal keeper. I think that this rule will make the game more exciting, because it will:
1. force a defender try to keep the ball away from the attacking player. The defender will have to work harder to make sure that he keeps possession. This would create situations where the attacker wins possession and races to the goal. Breakaways to the goals are always more exciting than meaningless pass to the keeper;
2. Speed up the pace of the game. When the ball is played back to the keeper, it breaks the flow of the game.
