well this is a world forum and people can discuss whatever they like. Just because you hate Zidane doesn't mean everyone else does. You have your opinion and others have theirs. He may have done the wrong thing but a player like Zidane with his experience isn't going to crack over a small bit of trash talk. No one knows what was said but if it comes out that Materazzi did say something that crossed the line I hope he is punished also. It will be interesting to see if he did what all the excuses would be for him. Zidane's mother is allegedly still in hospital so his priority may be her right now.

I'm a huge fan of Zizou. He's a great player and has achieved everything during his long brilliant career, Euro, World Cup, Club Leagues, Champions League....Name an other one player who's done so too...?
I do not justify his act, it was not professional and he deserved the red card he got. But as he's only human, I understand...and Materrazzi shouldn't feel proud of himself...
Zinedine Zidane's skills, imagination, talent and personality earned him the respect of the fans over the years, and no read card can take that away...

Thank you Zizou! Bernabeu won't be exactly the same without you next season...

YOU PEOPLE IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME ZIDANE DOES THIS THING(headbuting a player),IT'S NOT FAIR TO FIND HIM EXCUSES!!!
We don't know what Materazzi told to Zidane, these are just speculations.Materazzi talked to the media, denied that he called him a terrorist, but Zidane didn't talk to the press...So who's to blame?Zidane can't face the media because he can't explain what he did.!!!
How can we explain to our children that a man who acted like that get's an award too?Is this the world we want our children to live in?
Violence has nothing to do with football!!!

I think the Italin fans are trying to find excuses to make Materazzi look innocent. If he indeed did say something racist, which Materazzi will probably never admit since he is too cunning to do so, there is nothing in the world that can justify his foul locker room mouth.

I'm not a huge Zidane fan, honestly, but I don't think people are making excuses. He wasn't unprovoked--you don't randomly headbutt someone in the Final, the last game of your career, knowing that you stand the chance of getting kicked off. I'm sure he can appreciate how completely stupid it was, and that he shouldn't have done it, but it was certainly not unprovoked. That doesn't excuse it, it provides a reason for it (justified or not--that, we'll likely never know).

yes everyone is trying to wash their hands and look away so
Zizou can be sainted..they just can't stomach that Zizou DID THIS as he has done several times before...he has gotten 3 red cards for belligerent, vicious, savage barbaric fouls...

and we have to just accept it...BS...

Materazzi is guilty of trash talking nothing more nothing less..

sticks and stones..get over it...life goes on..don't lower yourself to others standards..

well except if you are Zizou and you live by lower values anyways...

well, i dont really know whether zidane's fans are trying hard to find excuses but I think you are... Yeah, he did something really awful and too much... but that doesn't mean he is categorized as a bad player..he is indeed a good player but not for me.... but I highly respect this maestro... U are bringing your hate emotions and feelings way too much.....anyway I am all for Fernando Torres
