Zidane is an amazing footballer. Plain and simple. He's not my favourite but I still have a lot of respect for his immense talent.
I can't stand the whole "What about the children? What kind of example did he set for our children?"
He probably didn't set a great example for them but then again I'm sure these kids have been exposed to worse things than a guy headbutting another guy. Sports are violent so if you're so concerned about the kids then don't let them watch it. Simple as that.

I support him. If he did what he did because the Italian player offended his family he have 100% of my support. He is a men with values very rare in this world. People have chosen money over everything and him didn't think twice of loosing everything in order to protect his value...I am with him 100% no world cup , no money, no status are more important than a good family. If someone is lucky to have a good family (like he must have) you should protect it as you protect yourself.
Maybe isn't enough being great as a player but being great as a men.
I wasn't his fun because I am Brazilian and have Italian background but I believe what really makes a person isn't their race or background is the value chosen in life, so if Zidane did it to protect his value...I am with him no matter what people say or think. Sometimes what must be a winner for some is a looser for few one or vice verse.

Zidane is the greatest player ever to emerge from Europe, and even now no one can match up to him in terms of elegance and skill in ball control.
Zinedine Zidane is up there with Pele and Maradona, and I'm sure that Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho are gonna join them....

"4 zidane fans"? To hell with Zidane for his head butt and to hell for you discriminating against zidane-haters. Don't forget when he stomped that Saudi Arabia player in the groin in '98. France lost, and has only 1 wc, Italy has 4 = Italy is Superior and france is inferior. Live with it crybaby!

Zidane was one of the most gracious football players of all time. He will be missed by all football fans. He's definitely up there with the Greats of the game. I don't think 'the headbutt' will tarnish his wonderful career too much.

Zidane is a great footballer and should be judged as such - not on what happened in the final. I would have butted the guy who called me the "son of a dirty terrorist whore" too! Except I would have probably gone for his face not his chest!

He was the best footballer in the last 20 years... It will take long till we will see another player like him... His style of playing took football to a new level, he created the game new. He was elegant, but he never did tricks just to do tricks, but only for the good of the game- just because it was the best way to solve a situation. He was more a warrior on the field, not a magician. And, he was always human - as shown on Sunday. He never wanted attention, he held himself back and let his game speak for him. He said that now his carreer as footballer ended, his real life will begin and he's really looking forward to living it. Good luck with that and Au revoir!
