FIFA World Cup (TM) - June 2006

They made that official statement today by saying that they are well deserved. After the U.S.-Italy game every commentator stated that it was a complete joke. That South American ref shouldn't have even been out on the pitch because he was banned from officiating the last World Cup. Other South American refs agreed that he was incompetent and had made numerous poor calls in South American games. He had a history of inconsistency. No reasonable person would make the statement theat FIFA did. Even the organizer Franz Beckenbauer (probably spelled incorrectly) said that there was entirely too many yellows. It was irresponsible for FIFA to make that statement today. Many fans expected punishment to be dealt out by FIFA and FIFA took a huge step in the other direction by showering incompetent refs with praise. Something smells fishy here.

I don't know much about soccer. I'm too lazy to try and find an article online about how the World Cup scoring works. Could someone briefly explain the scoring system to me and tell me if USA has a chance to advance? What makes a draw with Italy so exciting? It sounds like a boring game of nobody winning to me, but it obviously meant something important given the news headlines. Help me understand so I can be excited too! Thanks!

As My own nation failed to qualify(Ireland) i am resigned to viewing the word cup as a neutral this year, And asides perhaps Argentina i havnt seen many of the favouriates performing well at all and the lesser nations have confined themselves to getting draws , could this result in one of the worst world cups in a long time

i bealive that the excitement a player gets after scoring a goal in a critical match equals the excitement one gets when reaching orgasm! rate the folowing footy moments to nooky(sex) moments:
when:1 a player misses penalty
2 concerding own-goal
3 getting redcard
4 goal keeper denies him on a perfect chance
