South Africa did not qualify for this year, but that does not mean it could not be a choice for the World Cup. I'm very excited to see the World Cup in Africa, Maybe the world will see another nation go go cup crazy with passion like in Korea 2002.

The team did not qualify in their group. Only one team gets an automatic bid to the World Cup, that is the host nation. This year's World Cup bid went to Germany, next World Cup will be South Africa. I hope South Africa gets their team ready so the can compete and make their home fans proud.

They weren't good enough to qualify in their African group this year. Ghana played very well in qualifying and beat them out. Ghana is doing very well in THIS tourney as well; and they will advance if they beat the US
As the rules stand right now, they will be GUARANTEED a spot in the 2010 World Cup as host country

the africa zone has five places in the world cup this year. no country except the host qualifies automatically. so s. africa had to go through the qualification and they didn't qualify for this year.

Hosting the 2010 world cup doesnt mean u can go to the 2006 world cup without qualyfing first...
i suppose they didnt do well tothe african qualyfing team

Cause if they had played this time, they would need a four-years-and-one-day holiday (those lazy-asses) and so would miss the 2010 world cup.
