DPAR is Defense-adjusted Points Above Replacement. Its a made up stat that figures everything a quarterback does.

Number 1 was Tom Brady of course, but Brian was second! Third was Jeff Garcia. Do we all agree now that Brian should be the Bears quarterback?

I don't know his name and sure most people do not either.

But, is he any good?

The way I see it; the Patriots will clinch a playoff spot at week 11 and possibly clinch home field advantage with 2 games left...

If they do this would they play all their main starters through out the whole game?

Now, would this be the time they lose?

1. People who wish physical harm to players of various teams. ( I hate Tom Brady/Peyton Manning so bad I wish someone would break his knees... I hate the Patriots so much I wish their plane would crash and kill the whole team)

2. The same old questions, ad nauseum. (who's the better qb/team - Brady/Manning...Patriots/Colts).

3. People who whine and fuss, blaming everything and everyone for their team's loss. Instead of looking at what their team did wrong, and owning the fact that they got beat fair and square... .(the camera is in the past, the refs are not paid off, the cheerleaders are not sent to distract the opposing team)

3. People who fuss when a team outscores the other team, it's the NFL, they are paid to get the highest score they can. it's not a feel good sport where no one wins or loses.

4. People who don't use spell check or use the wrong word, (week/weak - wright/right)

5. People who use vulgar language.

Anyone have anything to add, feel free.

Keep in mind Colts have a much harder division than the Pats.

I must admit, Ohio State has played a pretty easy schedule. But they have dominated each of the games that they have played. When your defense is holding opponnents to under 7 points game, when your defense has allowed 4 offensive TD's all season, and when your defense has forced opponents to go 3 and out on half of the possessions, you have a GREAT DEFENSE...no matter who you played. Would these numbers been different if they had played LSU, Oklahoma, or USC? Of course they would. Let's not forget that OSU played a home/home with Texas the last two years. And starting next season, they will be playing USC home/home. So forgive OSU for having one season in which they can't find a large big time opponent to play. Its not their fault that the rest of the Big Ten has sucked for so long. They play who's on the schedule, and that's all they can do. I promise you that you won't see them lay down in the title game this year, like they did last year. They have a huge chip on their shoulders!!!

I read a lot of nonsense about So and So being the greatest QB(for example) ever because he's won Xamount of Super Bowls
or
"So and So is the best QB of ALL TIME if he wins the Super Bowl this year??"

Wouldn't that mean he's had a great career, not necessarily that he is great?

Charles Haley has won more Super Bowls than anybody in the history of the NFL (I know....I'm repeating myself)
that doesn't mean he's the greatest player ever, that means he's had one of the greatest careers ever...as, if I understand things correctly, the goal of most players is to win rings.

so, my questions:
Am I wrong here?

and since we all know that isn't the case....haha

Why can't people distinguish between the two categories of greatness?

I know there are several people around here, such as myself, who have always thought manning was overrated, but cant more people see that now.. i mean in the 05 and 06 seasons Manning was talked about as if he is a god .. now that Brady has the same advantages manning does, i think people are starting to realize that manning is not "The best player ever" (sports illustrated), nor will he "hold every single passing record by the end of his career" (also sports illustrated), nor is he "beyond criticism" (yet again, sports illustrated)
