I don't know his name and sure most people do not either.

But, is he any good?

The way I see it; the Patriots will clinch a playoff spot at week 11 and possibly clinch home field advantage with 2 games left...

If they do this would they play all their main starters through out the whole game?

Now, would this be the time they lose?

Patriot/Tom Brady fans will say he's good (and they have here)
just so if Brady ever goes down with an injury, and they still win (which they will) they won't have to admit ol' Tom is more of a system QB than he is 'one of the greats'

Matt Cassel. One L. Sounds like castle, and not like Clipper's guard Sam Cassell.

Hes' the greatest backup in history if you judge who he's backed up: Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Tom Brady. He also backed up Doug Flutie when he was at New England, so that makes 3 Heisman Trophy winners and a Super Bowl MVP. He technically didn't back up Testaverde because he was on the depth chart in front of him. Maybe that tells you something.

If you judged from the last time he played a lot (high school), he's pretty darn good. I don't think anybody really knows how he'd fare in the NFL. He hasn't played great so far, but it's hard to come in for a few minutes and be impressive. I how some day we get a chance to find out but I hope it's not due to a Tom Brady injury!

Matt Cassell hasn't been a starter since high school.... so.... thats probably not very good.

In his college days, he was 20 of 33 (60.6%) for 193 yards and an interception.

In the pros, he's 18 of 34 (52.9%) for 215 yards, 2 TD's and 2 INT's....

However, he did not look very good when he went in against Miami.

I think he is realistically no better than a 3rd stringer by NFL standards, and I'm surprised the Patriots haven't gotten someone better for the job.

LOL - I love how I got 3 thumbs down for listing his stats and saying he didn't look good when he only completed a pass to the opposing team last week.

Tough to say since he really never plays. They could definitely lose a couple games by sitting their starters but the Pats only care about the Super Bowl.

Uh...Matt Cassell is his name...and he's from USC...(Where is Austin N. when you need him?...*L*)...He's good...He just didn't play much because he backed up Matt Leinhart...

After they clinch home field, they will rest the starters...This is why they likely won't go 16-0...The Colts didn't do it either the past couple years...Not because of a bad game, but because the best players aren't playing...

Matt Cassel is still a lot better than Jim Sorgi.

matt cassel is the backup and from what i've seen he isn't that good, he went in the dolphins game in the 4th quarter, threw some bad passes including an interception and they took him out and put brady back in

If they still have an undefeated record (which I don't think they will), you'd have to think that they'd try for a perfect season until they lose. So they would keep their first unit in.
