Football (American) - October 2007

[Selected]: All categories Sports Football (American)

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?!?!

USC barely beat Washington.
OU lost to Colorado.
Florida lost to Auburn.
West VA lost to South Florida.
Cal squeaked by Oregon.
Texas was decimated by Kansas State.
Wisconsin squeaked by Michigan State.
Rutgers lost to Maryland.
Clemson lost to GA Tech.
VA Tech barely beat UNC.
Alabama lost to Florida State.

Was this past weekend the most topsy turvy weekend in college football in recent memory? Also think of this:

When is the last time you could say that South Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Hawaii, and Cincinnati are in the Top 25 *while* Florida State, Miami (FL), Auburn, Texas A&M, and Michigan are not?!?!

Okay let's start by giving the AP & USA Today's coaches polls a big thumbs down! The 1st 5 are pretty much the same with 1 & 2 flip flopping, which should quiet the LSU fans, as they got the #1 spot in the AP poll. I don't have any problems with that, as 1 & 2 are pretty close and in the following weeks to come will show us all who actually deserves that spot and until then they both should be looked at as #1.
Okay here's where my problem with the polls that are made up by the blind and dumb comes in.
UF loses to a 2 loss team at home and they only fall 3 spots in the coaches poll? Where they are ahead of a South Florida team that was a 16th ranked(I think) team that beat the #5 team? South Carolina who I think is WAY overranked anyway, but they are 11 in the AP and 18 in the coaches poll. How can that be possible? It just shows the irrelevant of the polls. Anyway, UF will play Kentucky, Georgia, and South Carolina, who are all overranked, but they all play each other so.....

Congrats, you're 4-0....but do you realize that the combined records of the teams that you've beat is 3-13 ???

Just so you know...here are a few facts about the Cowboys...

1. They are in the worst division in football.

2. Tony Romo wouldn't even start for 80% of the teams in the AFC

3. T.O. is mediocre at best

4. IF the cowboys make the playoffs, they won't make it out of the first round.

Thats all...

I'm not an Oregon fan. But it seems unfair that they dropped 3 spots after losing to the #6 (now #3) team, and other one loss teams ahead of them lost to teams that weren't ranked in the Top 25.
