WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?!?!

USC barely beat Washington.
OU lost to Colorado.
Florida lost to Auburn.
West VA lost to South Florida.
Cal squeaked by Oregon.
Texas was decimated by Kansas State.
Wisconsin squeaked by Michigan State.
Rutgers lost to Maryland.
Clemson lost to GA Tech.
VA Tech barely beat UNC.
Alabama lost to Florida State.

Was this past weekend the most topsy turvy weekend in college football in recent memory? Also think of this:

When is the last time you could say that South Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Hawaii, and Cincinnati are in the Top 25 *while* Florida State, Miami (FL), Auburn, Texas A&M, and Michigan are not?!?!

If you would have said that for the last half of the 3rd quarter and the entire 4th quarter, OU would not be able to manage a field goal, I wouldn't have believed you. What a complete and utter display of self-destruction and sloppy execution for OU *and* the botched call on the referees that reversed Iglesias' catch.

The Oklahoma game was the craziest thing I ever saw. They went ahead 24-7 and looked like they were about to explode and win 55-7 or something, and then the stars aligned against them. Just about every play and every call by the refs went against them. It was the most prolonged series of disasters I think I've ever seen in a football game. I mean how could they call them for a personal foul for pulling the hair of that Samoan that looked like Cousin It? He was nothing but hair all the way to his shoes! Then when they didn't give Iglesias that catch after both refs who were right there said it was good - the replay gave no evidence that it wasn't a catch. You would think that after the Oregon game last year that Oklahoma was due to benefit from at least ONE call?????

Well, sign me up for another weekend of exciting play!
It just goes to show that we never know what's going to happen. There isn't any one detail that ties all the losses together (like all the teams were on the road, the teams had key players on the IR list, etc.)....like you said- it was just topsy turvy.
Yes, I do think this was the most interesting weekend in college football ever - with 5 of the top ten teams losing. Last time anything like that happened was November 2003 when 4 top ten teams lost (Rutgers, West Virginia, Texas and Oklahoma). Anyone see a pattern?
lol.
Now that the top 25 is all shuffled around and no one really has a undisputed bragging rights about how great a team is (everyone's Achilles heel has been exposed and we now know - in particular - the Trojans ARE mortals), the rest of the season will be quite interesting!

Florida losing isn't a huge surprise to me, I knew that they would have a rough year and that next year would be their chance for another National Championship.
Both CAL and Oregon are great teams. Great game!
We ALL knew that Texas was overranked/overrated!!
Yeah what can you say about Rutgers? When you get by a Maryland team. Yeah, your season is over.
VA Tech, again, we all know that they're overranked/overrated.
Clemson and Tommy Bowden...what can you say about them? They always find a way to lose those games that they're supposed to win....And just when I was calling for them to run the table....
OU losing to Colorado....Does that mean FSU's 10 point "barely" getting by is that much more impressive, or still no?
Florida State's defense looked good against Bama, and finally they give Xavier Lee a shot, where he didn't have to come back from atleast a 2 touchdown deficit. He's a great athlete, he just hasn't had any decent game time, so I'm hoping they start giving him some plays that will let him show his abilities to play the position.

I think it was the craziest I can remember- don't forget if you're into Big Ten ball, Michigan struggled with Northwestern, Iowa lost to Indiana pretty handily, and Illinois beat Penn State, making three more wierd games!

As for the rankings, Michigan and FSU will probably make it into the teens in rankings in the next few weeks, while Cincy will drop out when they start playing their big games. I won't be happy until WVU is in the low 20's though, looking at their team, about 20 out of the other ranked teams could beat them without even playing a great game, and 15 of those teams would destroy them.

They go to the NFL and get paid or try out for the CFL or Arena football. If that does not work, they have to find a job elsewhere.

I think that Hawaii has no business in the top 25. If it wasn't for that Colt Brennan, they wouldn't be ranked. They are ranked just to make the Heisman race more interesting.
