In 2004, Culpepper had 5123 total yards, more than any other NFL player has ever had. He did this in Randy Moss's worst season as a Viking, long after Cris Carter had retired, with no running game to speak of, and with Nate Burleson as his #1 receiver.

Obviously, the standard explanation of "Daunte Culpepper was never any good and the only reason it looked like it was because he had Randy Moss" doesn't cut it. What explanation is there for this historically great season that Culpepper had?

We all know that the S.D. Chargers had their moments of glory (i.e. Dan Fouts, Don "Air" Coryell, Kellen Winslow, the 94'-95' season) but they had a record of stinkage for the past several seasons in the mid to late 90s.

Now they've got WMDs: a rockstar RB, a soon-to-be great QB, a wicked offensive line, and an equally dangerous defensive line.

What happened? Was it A.J. Smith, Coach Marty, smart draft picks or what?

In the past, there have been great QB gurus such as Bill Walsh, Don Coryell, and Sid Gillman. I'm not sure if I see anyone else who's quite that impressive in todays landscape. Maybe I'm missing somebody.

How much chance are you football-guru's giving the COWBOYS this season. Wade Phillips is an awesome addition to the coaching staff, and Brad Garrett is fixing to let that offense EXPLODE I think. I say were playoff bound.. but I don't how deep we can go in Phillips first season.

There is no question NFL is the most watched sport in the US, the king of revenue when it comes to sports. No one questions the beauty of the game, the shrewd management of the commissioners, the TV deals, and so on. But in the recent years, it seems that a huge part of the revenue could be coming from a growing trend - an increasing number of people who follow the game because they love to play fantasy football. From the August drafts that have turned even preseason games into serious challengers in primetime ratings to the weekly battles that often make the fantasy players rooting against their own NFL teams for the sake of fantasy glory, fantasy football has become inceasingly important in adding to the popularity of the game.

What is your take?

If you hate the broncos plz just dont answer this! With the signings of all the defensive players and travis henry and then the trade for dre bly how good are they gonna do this year. i know it wont be a super bowl season (it would be nice) but with a quaterback with only 5 games played its seems unlikely.
