I remember 20 years ago when a news channel did a report about boxing & young boxers. A kid (Oscar) cried his heart out infront of the camera that his mom died of cancer & they are poor & couldn't afford to take her to a hospital & she died not before he promised her to be a great boxer. Next thing, all tennis promoters sponsered him, fixed his matches & made a champ out of a loser. This is a true story.

I am curious about the process behind getting qualifying for a tryout. How many fights do you need? can you have under 10 fights and still qualify? How does the system compare in Canada to those found in other countries?

Hey, i have always wanted to be a boxer and i have forever loved the sport. At the age of 13 i asked my Parents if i could start boxing and they said no, my Dad didn't think i would be tough enough and my Mum said that she didnt want me to get hurt. I am now 14 and known to my mates at school (not boasting or being big headed or anything here) as being quite a tough guy, and can take alot of pain and having a strong punch. My Dad i think i can convince because i have got abit muscualer and am getting fitter each day. A good friend of mine also goes boxing and i was wondering if anyone knows how i can pursuade my parents into letting me take up boxing, or how and where i can join i live in England Staffordshire.

Thx.

By stepping up to heavyweight and winning a version of the world title. Admmitedly Jones was an exceptional fighter but as the current heavyweight division isent exactly red hot, what are the chances of fighters like Jermain Taylor, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins or any others arouned that weight division, of winning a version of the world heavyweight title if they really wanted to?

I think this would be an awesome fight, and don't know if this one has been asked, so I shall ask it:

Willie Pep vs Pernell Whittaker. Both in their primes, over 15 rounds. Who wins this one, and how?
