i don't think this is going to be last time that we'll see these two great fighters fight each other. i'm sure there is going to be a rematch afte the first fight. who knows, we might have the best trilogy in boxing history!

Its not a lock that Mayweather is going win against DLH. As a matter of fact...I will say DLH may just put him thru his worst fight ever.

Lets be honest here. Floyd has gotten his rep by beating up on some serious tomato cans. Arturo Gatti? Gatti fought WARS against journeyman Mickey Ward...not impressive. Zab "wobble when I get knocked out" Judah...same thing. Cant box past three rounds.

DLH has the higher levels of competitions under his belt. DLH, despite losing it....gave Tito Trinidad a boxing lesson. Floyd has NEVER, EVER fought anyone vaguely threatening.

To answer the question...IF Floyd lost....not likely but if...I would guess he will either ask for an immediate rematch (ego)..or he would go after Golden Boy promotions indirectly...either down to Shane, or up to Winky. My guess..down to Shane. Winky would destroy Floyd...too big.

All good answers... I agree with everyone in here, he can't go out with a 1 by the L. He is to much of a showboating, superstar. Look at the antics he is using to build up the fight. I believe this is the only time Floyd's ever been scared. Howeve will have to see if the rematch clause is there for Floyd, since he is the one moving to DLH's weight class, and Oscar is the champ, normally PBF shouldn't get the clause. This is turning out to be one of the greatest fights in history considering the magnitude of these fighters. In my opinion Oscar only lost to two opponents once to Sugar Shane Mosley, one fight was close the other one i gave to Oscar, the loss against Tito was an imbarrassment for Tito to Take the win on that, I would have relinquished my win after getting my a$$ beat for 8 rounds. So the only opponents he's lost to his B-HOP and Sugar Shane Mosley. Floyd has left his print in boxing as the best pound for pound boxer in the smaller weight classes and in boxing. As the Golden Boy's Era is winding down Oscar needs one more Victory to finish is career beating one of the best P4P.
What an anticipating fight, will have to wait for another 2 months.

War Machine ~
In my opinion, guys like Floyd never retire. I've been around boxing almost all of my life and and seen plenty of guys like Floyd, I'm not writing guys that fight like Floyd, I'm writing guys LIKE Floyd, fighters that can't handle losing or except losing.

There was a young fighter with just as much speed and hit harder than Floyd named Meldrick Taylor, that took a such a beating by Julio Cesar Chavez he could never except it, and although he has pugilistic dementia (Brain Damage from boxing) he was still fighting up until a year ago. How about another fighter who like to showboat and couldn't handle defeat, Ray Leonard he was completely embarrassed by a young Terry Norris.

The fighters that I wrote about above are just two of so many that couldn't or wouldn't except defeat, granted nobody has quite the attitude Floyd does, that's why losing is going to be so hard on him. He will not be able to live his life style without the huge income boxing brings. Floyd says "I have enough money, I couldn't spend all of it in ten lifetimes" well Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson and a host of other fighters said the exact same thing.

If Oscar doesn't beat Floyd, Shane Mosley will. Thanks for the great question War Machine.

If Mayweather loses his title fight with De la Hoya for junior middleweight supremacy, I definitely think that Mayweather will not retire. Mayweather has too much ego and pride for him to hang up the gloves with a loss. I think if that would be the case, he would demand an immediate rematch with the "Golden Boy."
Mayweather will probably have a tune-up bout if he is granted a rematch. He truly believes that he is the best. He will not relinquish his pund-for-pound crown to another man.

I dont' think its possible but should Floyd happen to lose this fight there is no way he retires. Floyd honestly believes he's one of the greatest fighters of all time. His ego would never let him walk away. The only question would be whether he would continue to fight at Jr. middle or drop back down to welter and clean out a talent-laden division to cement his legacy.

Personally I hope he goes back to 147 and attempts to clean house either way. I can't stand how fighters move up take the least dangerous "champ's" belt and move up to the next division. If he goes back down and fights half the talent in that division, he would be able to finally make a believer out of me.

mayweather will lose to a steady jab and a hard right in the later rounds. mayweather has fought panzies and never would get as much attention or money as he is getting had it not been for the charity of oscar. how many PPV fights does mayweather have, uh 1. and how much did it gross, uh <5M. oscar has several PPV record fights. mayweather is a looser, big mouth, con artists just like all the mayweathers

No. Floyd won't hang 'em up. But I do think that if De La Hoya beats Mayweather he'll hang 'em up. That would probably drive Mayweather nuts. No shot at redemption for PBF.
