One of the greatest Boxers of all time & he was overrated? He never LOST, accepted all challenges, ended with a career of 49-0-43ko's.......Yes the heavyweight ranks were terrible in that day, he beat some older champ figure's who CHALLENGED him......Who to this day has a win record with a KO percentage to match the Rock's??

In his new book George Foreman claims he was given a ''medicine'' tasting drink and it drained his energy by round 3. Is this a ploy to sell books or a 'grassy knoll' conspiracy.....33 years later.

The usual criteria: rank them as you see them and add whomever you feel I've missed...and have fun doing it!

1. Barbados Joe Walcott- Only 5'1, he knocked out light heavies and floored heavyweights.

2. Thomas Hearns
3. Pipino Cuevas
4. Ray Robinson
5. Felix Trinidad
6. Tommy Ryan
7. Oscar De La Hoya
8. Mickey Walker
9. Fritzie Zivic
10. Henry Armstrong- was more of a swarmer than big puncher, but had a lot of KOs so I put him in.

George Foreman: I Was Drugged in Loss to Muhammad Ali
Posted May 21st 2007 5:51PM by Michael David Smith

Does George Foreman realize what a stunning claim he's making in his new autobiography? His loss to Muhammad Ali in 1974 (a fight known as the Rumble in the Jungle) is one of the most significant sports moments of the 20th Century. And now he says he lost because he was drugged:

That's what the ex-heavyweight champ suggests in his new memoir, "God in My Corner," revealing his trainer gave him a weird-tasting cup of water just before the bout. "I almost spit it out . . . Man, I know this water has medicine in it," Foreman said to his trainer, who denied it was spiked. "I climbed into the ring with that medicinal taste still lingering in my mouth . . . After the third round, I was as tired as if I had fought 15 rounds."

Think about this for a second. To believe Foreman is telling the truth, you'd have to believe that he knew he was sabotaged at the time, knew the Rumble in the Jungle was rigged, and waited until his 2007 autobiography to reveal all.

Bernard Hopkins: 20 successful title defenses (the middleweight record), he's the only man to knock out Felix Trinidad & Oscar De La Hoya, & he moved up in weight & beat the best light heavyweight of that time, Antonio Tarver (Ray Robinson tried the same thing but failed).

Ray Robinson: Has recorded 175 wins & 108 of them was by knock out, was named ESPN's best boxer of all time (over the likes of Ali & Ray Leonard ), & he was the 1st boxer in history to win a divisional title 5Xs.

Marvin Hagler: He recorded 62 wins & 52 of them was by knock out, he had 13 successful title defenses (the formal record), & has knocked out the likes of Duran & Hearns.

Sugar Ray Leonard: His 1st appearance at middleweight he took on the likes of Hagler & was successful. His win over Hagler broke the long riegn of Hagler's titles defenses. He also has beaten Duran, Hearns, & Benitez....and he's won a title at light heavyweight as well.

That's their resume! You decide who's the best?
I pick SRL!

Offensively, both are (were) pretty much one tool guys, moderate at best defense, and they have (had) incredible power for their size.

I know he wasn't moving as much as Spinks, but he didn't really seem to be pushing the fight like the commentators said. How agressive would you say he was, considering just the first half of the fight?

I respect most of the posters here but you're sadly mistaken. Lennox Lewis would have obliterated guys like Joe Frazier and Ken Norton. Joe Frazier was a poor man's Mike Tyson (who by the way, would have KO'ed Smokin Joe in less than a round in his prime). Lennox was a tall boxer who could crush fighters with his powerful overhand right. All time greats who were KO'ed at least 2X: Hearns, Duran, Tyson, Gomez, Joe Louis, Jones Jr. and you want to tell me that they arent top ten of all time? Hopkins, Jones Jr., Holmes, Hagler, Sanchez, Gomez didnt have the best competition either but you cant say they arent top ten. The Ali and Marciano eras are way overrated. The mid 60s version of Ali was the best, no argument there. But Lennox had longevity and beat the best of his time. I believe the top 5 heavyweights of all time are Ali, Lewis, Louis, Foreman and Holyfield based on opposition and accomplishments. Why does everyone always think that fighters of todays era arent among the best??

I'm a boxing fan and am especially interested in boxing glove manufacture. The Mexican made pro gloves utilize a single piece of latex foam padding. Does any one know the methods used to insert the foam into the finished leather shell (glove) ? I know, it isn't inserted from the rear ?

I am probably biased since I grew up watching Tyson absolutely pummel his opponents, but I think Tyson has Ali. My Dad idolizes Ali and says there is no way Tyson would even land a blow, but I beg to differ. Tyson was an absolute pitbull. Yeah it would have been hard fro him to get inside with Ali, but if he got just one hook in there Ali would have been done. Who?
