The usual criteria: rank them as you see them and add whomever you feel I've missed...and have fun doing it!

1. Barbados Joe Walcott- Only 5'1, he knocked out light heavies and floored heavyweights.

2. Thomas Hearns
3. Pipino Cuevas
4. Ray Robinson
5. Felix Trinidad
6. Tommy Ryan
7. Oscar De La Hoya
8. Mickey Walker
9. Fritzie Zivic
10. Henry Armstrong- was more of a swarmer than big puncher, but had a lot of KOs so I put him in.

Your question listed most of the heaviest hitters in the division, the only changes the blogbaba would make would be to rank Hearns 1st, Armstrong much higher and drop Cuevas for Ray Leonard. Great question and an even better answer, thanks for both. I never would have even considered the thought of a harder puncher at welter weight than Hearns.

De La Hoya was not a great puncher at welterweight!

Put Sugar Ray Leonard in there. People forget that he was a banger, as well as an extremely accomplished boxer.
Out of 40 guys that he fought, he stopped 25 of them, and he fought all the way up to light heavy.

My list would be almost the same as urs but I would have to put HEARNS at 1. His were not run of the mill k.o.'s he blasted opponents with that tremendous right hand. If he had a chin we would be talking pound for pound. oh man could he punch, just ask Cuevas.

I agree with your choices but I think you forgot the "Hands of Stone" Roberto Duran and Ray Leonard. Leonard had tremendous power in both hands though they seldom get noticed because of his speed. But he's even more powerful than De la Hoya.
