In his new book George Foreman claims he was given a ''medicine'' tasting drink and it drained his energy by round 3. Is this a ploy to sell books or a 'grassy knoll' conspiracy.....33 years later.

I watched Foreman on Hannity and Colmes and he pretty much said whatever was in the water affected him and sapped him of energy. And led to his loss.

You're probably right. It might be a ploy to sell the book or to gain some publicity after being away from the limelight for so long. Foreman might want to get involved in boxing again after a rather quiet exit.

His claim though is absolutely ridiculous. In the documentary "Champions Forever", he clearly acknowledged that he lost the fight and the title to Muhammad Ali. Asked if he thought the ropes were intentionally loosened to favor Ali's "rope-a-dope" strategy, he just shurgged and simply said he wouldn't have any of these excuses. George must've gotten bored selling grills that he now wants to get noticed by twisting boxing history.

OK, ESPN, (the worldwide leader in sports) took this quote and made it headlines.

George Foreman has always said that he thought that the water he has that night tasted weird. This is not new, he said it in 1974, nor has he used it as an excuse for his loss, he's always stated that Ali flat out whipped him, I think his quote was something along the lines of the worst drug was waiting in the ring for him, a dose of Ali.

I believe that he's being honest, not looking after all these years to somehow discredit Ali's victory. It's a sad day when a man cannot simply state his feelings, and not have a ton of crap read into it.

Take it at face value. George remembers his water tasting funny, on the night he took a whippin', further he believe his own people did it to him, but he says it didn't effect the outcome of the fight. Big deal.

I don't believe for a minute George is trying to say he'd have whipped Ali if not for the water....

One more thing, if you haven't bought a George Foreman grill, this tip will save you money....

"Don't buy his grill, take the one you currently have and tilt it to the side!" -----Larry Holmes, on the George Foreman grill...

whilst Muhammad Ali Fought George Foreman he grew to become into definitely the underdog some have been asserting that Ali would be fortunate to get out of this combat alive, after the combat the justifications for Foreman began to right this moment come out some stated that Ali purposely had the ropes made loose so he could desire to apply them -'rope a dope' others say that Muhammad in basic terms winged it and upon seeing Foreman thoroughly exhausted and wiped out capitalized on the situation interior the 8th around-the two way every person seems at it 'massive' George grew to become into the heavy well-liked to maintain his then undefeated checklist alongside with the heavyweight championship the night they fought.....

The only thing that was drugged that day was Foreman's ***, right outta the ring when he lost... he then hid behind George Foreman Grills until he came back to fighting to feast on the stiffs that remained in the heavyweight division... He made a mockery out of the ranking system, took boxing into the pay-per-view hell that it is right now, and could even today, with a single phone call, secure a title bout....

i say it was a distinct possibility. remember ali was a hero in africa and around the world but especially in africa. george was the hated fighter at the time.i could very easily see someone doping him back in that time. it would have been easier to do it then than now for sure. foreman was a monster. and as stated on several sports shows he was the heavy favorite. and if you have seen that fight, which i have, you will see foreman is sluggish by round 4 and really looked like his punches were weak.

So what was his excuse for running out of gas vs. Jimmy Young? Or being severely winded vs. Gregorio Peralta? Against Ali he looked like the same old George Foreman to me. A powerful, wild swinging plodder with no stamina and only a good(not great) chin.

I would love to have seen George and Sonny Liston fight prime for prime. Ron Lyle showed how to lick GF. Mix up your boxing and slugging and most of all...DON'T BE AFRAID OF HIM! Hit back and George Foreman slows down considerably. Liston would KO him within 5.

Jebus man....George...just let it go.

For a man that was "drugged" he sure as hell looked good the first 5-6 rounds.

Foreman just got tired from all those haymakers he was throwing and Ali was covering up and ducking out the way of.

Foreman ran outta gas...and Ali wanted for that moment and just pounced on him.

History is history George.

I'd be questioning whether he is taking drugs today.
He just fought a DUMB fight against a smarter opponent. One who was willing to pay the PAIN price to win.
