His team was down ELEVEN with less than a half minute left. UNC got the ball, and any sane coach would concede that the game was over, and just let UNC dribble out the shot clock. Instead, Coach K had his players desperately pressing and fouling, even though they had no chance of winning.
It should be noted that the spread for the game was TEN points. Coach K seemed hellbent on covering that spread. Why?
As a result of Coach K's actions, UNC's star Tyler Hansborough ended up getting his nose broken with 10 seconds left by one of Duke's needlessly aggressive players, and now said player has been suspended. So, how much money do you think K had riding on the game????
