Kobe's far from over rated but he is over hated.
Look at what he's achieved, coming into the L at such an early age, 3 championships (please don't raise the whole couldn't do it without shaq, shaq couldnt do it without kobe either, its called a team folks) perrenial all star and 1st teamer, defensive first team honour.
Kobe isn't over rated every obstacle thats come his way he's barged through, he's still hungry and to stay hungry when you're making around $15 million a year just off your contract means a genuine love for the game and desire to succeed. He works hard on his game and improves a facet of it every season. He's one of the premier offensive talents the L has seen for maybe a decade maybe 20 years and arguably top 20 all time.
The lakers by rights should be nowhere near as far into the rebuilding process as they are. Thats partly credited to Phil Jackson but Kobe is the one out there helping them get the W.

well, if you asked me this question in 2002, i would say definately not. kobe was already a dominant offensive player, and was an All Defensive 1-st teamer. As much as i despised the lakers and kobe, i knew this guy was awesome. today, his offensive game has gotten better, and he gets over 5 assists per game. his FG% is exceptionally good for the type of shots he takes. however, right now, his defense is pathetic. teams constantly burn him off the ball and get layups, so right now, he is overrated

kobe aint overrated! he has made things only people can dream off.. not even the great MJ.. nor the Magic.. but magic has done a lot too.. and mj too. kobe is kobe.. not the reignin jordan.. he'll be rembred as the player who plays the game better than anyone by the end of his career.. with his killer instncts the lakers can make it all the way..

No he's not overrated. He plays well and performs day in day out.
and his conceitness can be attributed to a plus sometimes. When a player is confidence, they tend to dominate the game more. Gilbert Arenas came into the league as a 2nd round pick and said he'll be the best NBA player. Look at him now.

Kobe Bryant is not overrated. He is a genuine NBA talent. That makes me dislike him even more.

No Kobe will be apart of the legends of basketball. He is a great basketball player he just needs to learn how to be a team player.

i think he was....all the hype about him and him thinking he should be the man and putting himself before others....
he is a gifted player who can score, defend and lead. and this year he is really showing his leadership. i think kobe is now realising his potential as team leader....he is buying into that role nicely and the team is doing better then they should....a huge credit to Kobe

I don't think you can find a second player to score a 81-points game today.
