Baseball - August 2006

If you're from New York and you're a Yankees fan, fine. It's your home town team and I understand. But I can't stand the fact that every city has a bunch of Yankee fans that have never lived in New York and don't know anything about baseball. And you know they're all secret Patriots fans too.

Is it because he's almost 80,is it because he actually has a manager he's comfortable with,is it because he doesn't have Bily Martin to hire and fire anymore? One more thing-who's number do the Yankees retire next.Someone who's actually retired right now?

I think the Dodgers will. They are on hot streaks almost every week. Arizona and San Diego just haven't been playing well from my point of view.

If not, what scenario would have to unwind for the N.Y. Yankees to not win the American League Eastern Division ?

And, who would knock the bombers out of first place ?

I have a feeling they will...after what Boston is showing this weekend..Boston sucked this weekend..

Also Yankees have the best lineup coming in September..adding Abreu to an already great lineup..plus Sheffield n Matsui coming back..there pitching is not that bad either..Mussina n Johnson will get it done when time comes..

When its all said and done..it gonna come down to Yankees vs. White Sox..

I dunnno about National League...the Mets are not having injuries to pitching..so NL is a toss up..

When the Red Sox play the Yankees, they always choke! Why are they such PUSSlES? Did you notice tonight how the Yanks were behind up till the 9th inning, then MR. BIG CAHONAS Derek Jeter came up and set the table for handing another major ***-whooping to the Pink Sox?

Then when the Pink Sox came up to try and save the game in the bottom of the 10th, Cookie Crisp and Loretta (isn't that a girl's name??) showed how much character the Pink Sox have. Way to go girls!!

Oh, what a move by Rivera, intentionally walking 2 men to load the bases in the bottom of the 9th. What balls the man has.

GO YANKS!!! Welcome Damon, maybe the start of another 75-year curse?

Oh yeah, one more thing, whats the record for the most runs scored against the Pink Sox in a series? I bet the and answer is already the Yankees in August 2006, and there is still one more game to play!!

GO YANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what fun things are there to do in the Greater New England area during the offseason, is it all Pats talk now...and Craig Hansen is terrible. I don't even like the Yankees but you are now their b*tch again.

That was a heck of a comeback there with posadas homerun, and how we got out of last inning... I was holding my breath when they had the bases loaded... But to all ya sox fans out there, you now have to score at least 3 runs next inning to stay in the game, hahha... I mean I know they are capable of it, they're a good ballclub, but it still puts the pressure on them... And I dont think its going to happen... And if we win today, we're one away from the sweep!!!

Would you rate Derek Jeter as one of the top 20 players to ever play the game?

He must be considered one of the top clutch players in the history of baseball. He has made some of the most unbelievable plays in the history of the World Series. And, his stats are rock solid in every phase of the game.

Is he one of the top 20 to ever play?

First off, I'm not a fan of his. He admits to not watching many games, which I would think is part of being a good analyst. He also says a number of things that border between stupid and just plain crazy.

From tonight's game - "I think you have to pitch to Arod, as good as he is, since Cano is swinging the bat so well." Anyway, Papelbon walks Arod, then strikes out the "hot" Cano. Yes, Cano has had a good series, but he has a .320 OBP with runners in scoring position, as compared to Arod's .417....good logic, Joe.

For the record, Joe also said that Posada was swinging a hot bat - I guess going 4-for-18 over the last week counts as "hot" in Joe's book.

How does this guy win Emmys? Are the voters just that dumb? Because I like to think most fans are smarter than that.

ted williams had 521 homeruns, but he missed 700 games because he went to the war, in 700 games at that games i think he could have hit around 250-300 homeruns which means he would have finished with 770-825 homeruns, which is far superior than Babe Ruth, what do you guys think?
