I have a feeling they will...after what Boston is showing this weekend..Boston sucked this weekend..

Also Yankees have the best lineup coming in September..adding Abreu to an already great lineup..plus Sheffield n Matsui coming back..there pitching is not that bad either..Mussina n Johnson will get it done when time comes..

When its all said and done..it gonna come down to Yankees vs. White Sox..

I dunnno about National League...the Mets are not having injuries to pitching..so NL is a toss up..

I doubt it. Boston isn't the only team they need to look out for. Personally, I'm going for the Dodgers no matter how unlikely it seems.

Unfortunately, yes, I think they will finally win the World Series again. They've always had a good lineup, but this is the best one they've had in a long, long time, and that's without Sheffield and Matsui. Adding all-around players like Damon and Abreu to go along with Jeter makes the Yankees much more difficult to face than they have been in years past. The Yanks aren't just power anymore, they work pitchers to death, they get on base, they have some speed, they can beat you with smallball instead of just longball. But of course, they can still kill you with the longball too. Having Giambi, A-Rod, and whatever they can get out of Matsui/Sheffield, hitting after those on-base guys at the top of the order is just deadly. That lineup is just hell on a pitching staff. You're lucky if your starter can get through five innings, and then you watch them feast on your bullpen. It's just a scary good lineup.
And they've got decent options off the bench too.
The pitching isn't great, but with that lineup, it doesn't have to be. Mussina has looked great. Johnson is up and down, but I think he can piece together one last good October. Between Wang and Wright, they'll get decent enough pitching to keep them in every other game. The bullpen isn't amazing, but it isn't bad either. Proctor and Farnsworth have worked alot of innings, so that might be a concern, but even so, I think it's a good enough group to just get the ball into the hands of the best closer ever.
This is going to be a very tough team to beat.

As for the competition; Forget any team from the NL, that league is
nothing but AAAA. Red Sox won't make the playoffs, pitching is too bad. Tigers lineup in overrated, they don't make pitchers work, and the pitching staff is young, and getting tired. White Sox have a killer offense, but the pitching just isn't the same as last year, I can't see them pitching through the Yankees. The Twins would be tough if Liriano can come back and be as effective as before, but even then, I don't think their lineup is strong enough, plus they might not even make the playoffs at all.

Yanks will win the WS, but I'm not really worried about the White Sox as much as the Twins or Angels. The Angels always play the Yanks tough and have good pitching and great speed. We can never keep Chone Figgins off the bases.
The Twins have Santana who'll pitch twice in the 5 game series, he's dangerous, at least Liriano's done though.
The White Sox lucked into the two wins they got over the Yanks, I think they can't hang in the long run.
Detroit has no experience in post-season and Yanks handled them earlier in the season, and you're right, they're just getting healthier.
NL offers nothing, Mets will make the WS and lose... Pedro is a quesrion mark since his last outing/shellacking, and Glavine may be done for the season with a possible blood clot requiring surgery.
Yanks have a clear road to #27... I'll see you at the parade!

I agree with you that the Yankees will win the 2006 World Series. However, I think there is a big possibility of another subway series, Yankees vs. Mets in the World Series. Also you will get a lot of Red Sox fans who are sore of the beaten that there team has taken this weekend saying that the Yankees aren't even going to win the conference. Do not listen to them, they are blind and can't face the facts at a time like this. If you analyze the play of every team in the MLB right now I think the Yankees are playing the best.

Yanks are definitely playing with the swagger of years past. they just look like WS champions. Speed, power, working long counts, solid pitching (but not great). The only teams I think will give them trouble would be Angels, Twins, Chi Sox possibly Detroit. Red Sox are weak. Bottom line is that the AL is deadly this year, possibly the most competitive League in 15-20 years. But the yanks line up will be too much for any team unless they have 2 phenomenal starters that can go 8 or 9 innings per night.

Whatever AL team makes it to the World Series will handily defeat the NL team. The Mets are good, but the pitching is tripleA. If the Yankees can get through the dangerous AL playoffs like I said they will win.

With Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavin hurting, the N.Y. Mets will cruse into the National League Championship Series and could easily win the National League Pennant.

Against the N.Y. Yankees in the World Series...??? Let's wait for that call.

the possibilities are rather good. you have a manner greater desirable danger of them 2 communities assembly then the different 2 communities in the postseason. i might say its a 50% danger that a subway sequence will ensue this postseason. I even have been predicting subway sequence because of the fact the initiating of the season, even previously the Yankees began coming near. needless to say, the Yankees will pull out a victory. Tom Glavine will no longer be able to stand up to a lineup like the Yankees have. bypass YANKEES
