i am from NY so i have the correct answere.
NY Yankees are from the Bronx because that is were their stadium is located and they represent the American league.
The NEW YORK METS are from Queens were their stadium is located butt hey represent the National League and most of the world. Most teams that have enaugh money have two teams. like in the NFL NY is represented by the GIANTS, JETS and the BILLS.
in NHL is the Rangers, Islanders and the Sabres. SO NY has alot of money so the can afford all this teams.

In most sports the team is named for the city in which they play their home games but in some cases the team represents a state such as; Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Florida Marlins, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers or a region such as Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
