I don't understand how the hammer works in curling. I thought the last shot was alternated between the two teams, but today i watched usa vs germany and it was the 9th end, 5-4 germany. usa had last shot with germany lying one. usa could've easily tied it 5-5 but they knocked both rocks out and "protected" the hammer, according to the announcer. Could someone explain this to me?

It's not a team award...the team award is the NBA title and the team MVP is the Finals MVP, right? If team success is the primary stat, then why do they vote before a teams season can be deemed successful? If the Mavs, or Suns, or Spurs, or Heat lose in the 1st rd of the playoffs...no one would call their season a success?

I was thinking about trying to play this next fall, but I have no idea what to do to get ready. What would I need to be able to do for tryouts and what would I need to do to become stronger. What workouts, exercises, and diet would I need!!! Please Help! I would be playing with the boys so I need to be twice as good to even get on the team because people are sexist.
