Wouldn't it be the most beautiful and elegant poetry imaginable? Wouldn't its divine authorship be obvious just from the quality of the text? Wouldn't it far surpass the greatest human poetry?

Now compare that ideal to the leaden prose of the Bible and Qu'ran. There are some works of poetry which instantly move anyone who reads them. When I read these 'holy' books, I'm often repulsed.

Your thoughts?

If God came behind an atheist ans slap him upside the head, he will say he doesn't exist, if God slaps him upside the head again, he will say, ok, I give.

If god came behind an agnostic and slap him behind the head, he will say, that might be God but not sure. If God slaps him again, he will say, that might have been God but I'm not 100% sure...

In my 25 years as a Latter-Day saint I have heard people say all kinds of crazy things that they have read about my church. Every thing from space ships to animal sacrifice none of it true and yet they believe it. Maybe they should go to the source.

Christians, Atheists, Muslims and all in between what do you think

Read the 13 commandments below and please answer the questions addressed to you. Please indicate if you are a Christian, or Atheist, Muslim, or belong to any other beliefs or persuations. )

Christians: What if someone lives by these commandments but do not believe that Christ is God, will he be saved? Or, will he be condemned by Christ ?

Atheists: These commandments are derived from the bible, a book you consider outdated and full of fiction, therefore these commandments are worthless guides for human conduct?

Muslims: These commandments are not in the Koran, therefore these must be evil and worthless guides for human conduct ?

For the rest: Should these be posted or not in public places to remind us all that there are still basic rules that govern us all ?

The Thirteen (13) Commandments

1, Love your neighbor as you love yourself, and do for others what you want them to do to you.

If you are Christians who don't believe in the literal truth of the whole Bible do you believe it is all true but some is metaphor, analogy or topology. And it was because they used different styles of writing in ancient times. Also much of the apparent contradictions could be copyists errors or different translations.

In 1Corinthians 14: 34-35, St. Paul says:

"Let women be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but let them be in subjection, just as the Law says. If they want to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church."

Is this the divinely-inspired word of God?

This will sound made-up but I remember entering my body from a third-person point of view when I was 2 or 3 years old. I floated down from the ceiling and put my soul into my body, and then attained first-person view. I don't have an official religion, but I was wondering what you guys thought about "transferring" souls. Once again, the latter story is not a lie, it could have been a dream, but man was it REAL.

I've frequently heard it say that killing someone (even a civillian) in war is somehow more morally justified than killing someone in peacetime.

How is this so? Does the fact that they were done in a war context partially excuse Milosevic's massacres of Albanians? Or Saddam's gassing of the Kurds? Or the nuclear attacks on Japan?

Where is the moral difference?

Do you really believe that God can just be encapsulated and boxed in to such a small definition as one religions beliefs vs. another's? God is far greater than the definitions human beings come up with. Why? Because we are all divine. If you believe that God created all beings then all beings have the divinity of that God. Does it matter in the end how one reaches God or what God is? Do any of us really know? A life filled with goodness is just as good as a life filled with doing good for a God. In the end, none of us knows what is beyond this or whose God is right or whose God doesn't exist so why can't we just accept that the inherent divinity of another being is the closest we may ever come to God? Thoughts on any of this? Thank you. Blessings and Namaste

The idea of Jesus being God and born of a virgin is only found in Matthew and Luke if I am not mistaken. It seems odd that Paul would not have included this highly important doctrine into his writings. Why do you think this is??
