Almost everybody on the planet gesticulates (gestures with hands) when they are speaking directly to somebody. Sometimes the movements are subtle. Often the gesticulation becomes more pronounced as passion about the conversation topic increases.

Many people will gesticulate while on the phone, even though they cannot see the other person, yet know that they are there and exist, as part of an ingrained part of their communication patterns. (I watched another driver talking on their Bluetooth alone in their car today as a prime example)

What about those of you who pray? Do you gesticulate while praying? Or is there some deep, hidden, kernel in your brain that tells you there isn't really anything to gesture passionately to?

When Jesus said to eat his body & drink his blood. That pretty well negates the vegetarian aspect doesn't it?

Sometimes I feel like Lucy out of the Peanuts cartoon strip when she said "Stop the world, I want to get off!"

So what do you do when something really upsets you?

What do you think about what Jesus said at Mark 10:11

"Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her."

....and why is it very few Christian Churches today teach divorce and remarriage as adultery?

How do you interpret Mark 10:11??

Who in their right mind would mark me down for this reply but a religious zealot?

Qustion was: Why should priests be allowed to practice molesting children while in seminary?
It would mean that they either: A) Get really good at it so they can do it full time when they attain priesthood, or B) They'll get their fulfill and be tired of it by the time they attain priesthood. Should we take the chance?

My Answer was:

some of them don't just practice...they are experts.

It's a darn shame...and shame on those that cover it up in higher levels of the churches. This is not only against what they believe and teach others, but against the spirit of man, in so much as our children are our future...what we do to them today they take with them for the rest of their lives. For them it's a life sentence.

Help me build this bridge, friends - what can we all agree on? All suggestions welcome.

I would offer that we can all agree that we are passionate about the things we believe in.

If an atheist believes that when we die, we just cease to exist, but a Christian believes in heaven and hell, doesn't the atheist need more faith? If the atheist is right, the Christian will suffer the same fate and won't really be hurt by his beliefs. But if the Christian is right, the atheist is sure going to be sorry! So shouldn't the atheist, with so much at stake, be 100% absolutely sure of his beliefs, since he has so much more to lose?

(This question isn't meant to be offensive towards anyone, so please don't flip out on me if you're an avid Christian. I'm not meaning to bash anyone)

I'm just at that point in my life where I don't believe in God anymore. And, it's really starting to depress me. I feel like I outgrew God, and it really scares me without that security of an afterlife, that feeling that someone is watching over you, etc. Life feels pretty pointless. It's life-shattering to go against everything you've been told since you were a baby. It's frightening venturing into the unknown without that warm, fuzzy feeling of having a supreme being watching over me.

I'm not as afraid for myself as I am for my parents and loved ones. I'm so afraid of death.

Did you, fellow agnostics or athiests go through a depression stage whenever you started to question (or stopped believing entirely in) god?

I believe in the power of prayer, individual and corporate.
I also believe in having people lay hands upon the sick.
I know those 2 statements will come up, so I decided to address them up front.
Whether or not you believe in the above mentioned, my real question is:

Do you give details of your prayer request when asking for prayer? Or do you say that you have an unspoken prayer request?

I've struggled with this. I would love to give the details to people know exactly what to pray about, but on the other hand, I don't want to give 'birth' to that sickness by confessing it with my mouth. Plus, sadly there are those who use the details given in prayer as an opportunity to gossip.

Let's just say for now, that I have an unspoken prayer request for my son tomorrow. He's facing a serious doctors appt.

Can you help me with some scriptural backing as to why you do or don't?

thank you!

Dear God:
I know that I'm a sinner. I deserve Hell. But You sent Jesus to die for my sins. I believe that He died and rose again. I ask you now to forgive my sins, once an for all. I now receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Personal Saviour. Please come into my heart and save me, Help me to know I am saved and live for You, the rest of my life. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.

Is it right that a person who claims to be Christian, has not had 2 of their 3 children baptized? This person also boasts about how she is able to speak in tounges, and has a profound knowledge of the bible.

would suppy a family with protein pack milk for at least 12 years. from book "population, resources, and enviroment" it takes 60 pounds of water to grow 1 pound of wheat, while it takes 2,500 to 5,000 pounds of water to get 1 pound of red meat

isnt it funny how the fathers of western civilisation were vegetarian, socrates is another vegetarian

economic facts like this were known to the ancient greeks, in plato's "REPUBLIC book" the great philosopher socrates recommende a vegetarian diet, because it would allow a country to make the most intelligent use of its agricultural resources, he warn that if people eat to much animals, there would need to be far more pasturing land.
an acre of grains produces 5 times the protein than an acre of land set aside for meat production, acre of peas and beans is 10 times more protein, an acre of spinach is 28 times more protein than land set aside for meat production.
